Apparently when using a 7 channel receiver with the 10C, you can not use the ailevator function and must use a pmix instead. That would mean you lose all the functionality of the ailevator function. It appears that problem has been corrected in the 8fg.

I am not quite sure what you are asking, but the 10C is not capable of wing and tail types as is the 8FG.

You can use dual elevators with your 10C but it will be through mixing.

I tried your suggestion using a mix to set up the dual elevator servos via a mix, but I could never get equal deflections on both servos so I bought a R6008Hs. I am now trying to the 10c's built-in ailevator function. That aileron mix is now active (old elevator mix now inhibited) and the two elevator servos are in channels 2 and 8. However, only the right elevator servo (right) works. The The left one (channel 8) does not work with the elevator. It does (channel 8 servo) however seem to work with the aileron stick. I notice the last channel is classified as 7/8.

Does it need be configured to channel 8? Any ideas what is wrong? Thanks.

The last channel is not marked 7/8, but shows that the channel 8 slot is below the channel 7 slot.  It's postiioned horizontally.  Do you have the servos plugged into the correct slots?  It sounds like you have one of your elevator servos plugged into the channel 7 slot and not the channel 8 slot.
