When I was nine I started modeling. Raised the cash needed by mowing lawns and peddling newspapers and magazines. There was no McDonalds then or I would gladly have done that too. I'm just jealous of the things the youngsters can get now and also the fact that they can probably fly better than I can. Keep it up. this can be a lifetime hobby and will be more fun than anything you can do while still standing on the ground. My first engine, A Baby Cyclone, cost ten bucks used. That is from lawns at $1 each and about 60 cents a week from a newspaper stand. No complaints, just happy that it turned out so well. Much older now and I can afford anything I want for modeling. Counting my blessings and all the models
hanging from the walls, and engines and radios on the shelf. Go to it young'uns.

the advantage to be old and experimented modeler is that you crash less, so you look more rich !

Everybody's so rich here!

I got a Tiger II ARF (NOT YET BUILT)

Engines:
Magnum .46 XLS

Radios:
Futaba SkySport 6 FM

Question:

Y does everyone use JR? I(having temporarily owned and returned) a crappy JR Quattro, find that JR does not nearly match the quality of my Futaba. AND they were the same price.

Question #2:

How many people have screwed up building?

I have! I aimed for ZERO gap while CA hinging. Also, I also got tons of CA on my covering.

The Quattro was very low end JR. Their higher end computer radios are fantastic.

I personally know of an 8 year old who just got signed off for solo by our club president and was voted into the club last week. This kid flies great and makes oll us old farts look bad. He has even learned to use throttle management on landing. Really makes me want to throw up every time I see him fly but I'm also very proud that young fellas like him are interested in our hobby. All his dad tells him is "Son, go fly your plane". He does. We got a long time member in him.

JR is for JRs (Juniors)! Fut and Hitec are for people who fly!

Actually JRs is for everyone... Just Kidding!!!
