I have a evolution 26gt that i bought second hand a few years back, and just got around to mounting it to a new build this winter. It has the silver ignition box with the black label with the evolution logo on it. it has only a single magnet in the prop drive washer. A few weeks back i started the engine and ran good with the exception of it starting hard. (had to use electric starter) i took apart the carb and cleaned and inspected it, and set high and low speed screws to factory recommend starting points and than adjusted from there . motor has good compression. A few days ago it was nearly impossible to start, and once it was finally running it was missing quite bad. I replaced the spark plug and gaped to .020 (i later found out recommended gap is .028). Today i could not get to start at all, even using an electric starter. it would fire once maybe twice every few times i would use the electric starter. Its getting fuel, plug was wet. ignition battery is 4.8v and is new and fully charged. The led light on ignition would stay lit solid after cranking the motor, which i don't think is normal. the user manual doesn't state what the led lit solid means. So my question is does this sound like a faulty ignition since it still fires occasionally or do i have another problem on my hands? Thanks for you help

Replace the ignition with a Rcexl ignition.  Jody at Valley View has them...good guy to deal with.  Best Regards   Capt,n
