OK, center diff is locked (used diff lock puddy).  Running 17mm Hexs now (waiting on 17mm rims).  Lipo charging bag is on it's way.  Battery straps are on the way.  Checking on shimming Fr. & Rr diffs now.   Has anyone locked the rear diff ?  How is everyones center diff locking working out for you ?  I put duct tape inside the tires while I had them off, supose to help with the balooning effect ?  We'll see.  Any other tips/tricks I should do while I have it apart ?  TIA !

Use Badhorsie Diff locking grease, it works almost as good as locking your diff. If you lock your rear diff it will handle like complete crap, I don't recommended completely locking up any diff (except for the center). The grease is kinda expensive, but its worth it

OK, after locking the center diff, packing the front and rear diffs, checking to see if they needed shimmed (they didn't), fabbing a secure mount for the ESC (drilled two holes and used bailing wire to secure ESC), after checking over everything, and now waiting on 17mm rims to show up, I noticed I left off the two clear plastic side peices, are they needed ?  Anyone run without these installed ?
Thanks
Smitty

hey, post a pic of the new rims/tires. and a link to where you got them if you dont mind.

i packed my center diff with really thick grease. it still unloads to the front tires when they get off the ground, but not as much as they did before.

i hessistate to lock the rear diff. i think it would put alot of strain on the other parts. and i dont think a locked rear diff will help handling much. may even hurt it.

They are OFNA 81154 (yellow) MT3 Split, 17mm w/ full offset.  I got them for $15 off eBay.  I am using the stock tires.  I'll let you know how it handles as soon as it stops raining.  I'll post up pics this weekend.

ah, i remember when my body looked like that. lasted 1 battery pack
ran up a ramp, hit a speaker and then the floor(at an indoor track)

i would leave the side guard on the side where the ESC is. just to keep large rocks from hitting it or snagging the wires. just my 2 cents.

I was thinking the same, as soon as the SS screws show up I'll put them back on.
Thanks

Did you have to boil the tires to get them off the stock rims? I really need to tape the foams because when the tires ballon they are hitting the side of the car where the ESC is and tearing up the wires. I had to make a new side cover to help proctect it. Here's a video of my son running the earthquake for the first time. You can hear when the tires rub. Sorry for the thin video I forgot to hold my phone the other way LOL

Yes, I boiled them off.  It took alooooong time.  I taped the foams and I duct taped the inside of all tires, it really seems to help stop ballooning.
