That message was placed there within the last 3 hours as I checked the site this morning before I sent my last email requesting an update to this situation that made sense.

As it is, this message still makes no sense that they charged my credit card on the day I placed the order, set the order to complete/shipped 5 days later, provided a bogus/unfilled tracking number last night after I requested it and only after being called out, do they claim to be the ones scammed?  My email was replied with a message that claims heart felt apologies, but it still doesn't make sense. Awesome Hobbies charged me for a product they did not have in stock (against their own policy), they completed the order stating it was shipped (how did they verify this fact?), then provided a tracking number (where did it come from?).  The whole thing stinks to high heaven and shows either a complete lack of business sense or something foul is afoot.

As always, caveat emptor... lesson learned and they will not hook me again. I suggest others avoid this vendor as well.

My earlier statement was not an attack on the integrity of Awsome Hobbies because I have not personally dealt with them.  My point was merely an observation of the issues with there website and the ability to fill an order as promised

quote:

ORIGINAL: fsciorelli

Although I have not personally dealt with "Awsome Hobbies"  based on reports on this forum and another that I frequent (RCTankHQ Panzer forum) they do not seem to be the model of reliability.  Last month there was mention of there website being hacked/attacked.  A portion of the  response from the proprietor Warwick Vincent is below

"Hi Website was rebooted and is totally tested and functional including the sales@awesomehobbies.com.au also the awesomehobbiesemail@yahoo.com.au    "

I would try these two emails if you have not already

Guys just thought Id let you know, several of us purchased from AH after contacting WV personally to see if he had stock...

I rang & was told by him on Monday the 9th that there were 6 Panthers in stock, then rang the following day Tuesday the 10th & was told 1 was left, so against my better judgment (after 2 mates from HH had there money taken for 2 Matt KTs that never arrived, 6 weeks or so later after putting something on Hobby Havoc they got a refund) & sucked in by cheep prices I placed an order gave him my CC details & I was charged the same day, waited till Saturday the 14th still processing status on my AH account, rang WV and the reply was when questioned "gees you guys are pushy your like an old woman's knitting club, its was the 13th yesterday & it went out the day after you paid for it???
OK then waited another week still processing?????

Tried to ring during the week many times but he wouldnt answer any phones, so I contacted my CC company to get a refund!

I think he was under the impression he had bought these things from a supplier, put all the adds on his site, took peoples money & they never arrived, I think he may have got burnt as nothing turned up!

He may well have been burned, but he also should not have listed orders complete and shipped if they truly had not been sent. He could have checked that tracking number he gave me and seen it was dead - which should have let him know he was screwed in the deal.

Perhaps he should be certain the stock is in his hands before charging credit cards and follow through with the tracking number once he is certain the item has been shipped. The Awesome Hobbies website (on the 'About Us' page) states:

At Awesome it's not about the Sale but the Service.................

I find that statement false as this whole debacle shows it is purely about the Sale and not about the Service in my mind.

Their reputation's screwed

I google earthed their address and it looked nothing like a business address - it was a house out in the sticks

That's great news for you - i hope it's not just another stalling excuse.

We were promised a refund a week ago and still nothing.
I've had about enough of this lying ****. Time to take this further i think.

Can we somehow flag this joker as a dodgey seller?

I would give it at least a week. Then see if he makes good. i dont know him or anything about him but i do know that the resail guys are at the mercy of the manufacturers and shippers. More than one good seller has gone down becuase of bad suplliers.

The average price of a Tamiya Panzer IV is around $700.00 to be able to sale it for $399.00 and make some cash off the deal he would have to buy quit a few tanks from supplier to get a good deal .
Are the Tamiya tanks coming out of Japan slow from the tsunami they had so are any suppliers having trouble meeting there orders .

I found out that AH is supposed to be receiving a new shipment from another supplier no later than Tuesday 31st May. I have sent them an e-mail that if the shipment is a no show that I do want to be refunded.
As my order was placed on 6th May I feel that this waiting period has been sufficeint enough.
If I had sourced this order from Hong Kong I would have had it weeks ago.

You would have had it weeks ago even if you ordered it from the AAF in virginia. Karen would have made certain you got it. Thes "supper" deals on EBay rarelt turn out to be very supper at all.
STAY with tried and true known Tamiya Dealers. I dont know id AH is even a licensed dealer of Tamiya kits.Yes they do have to be a Tamiya authorized dealer to handle warranty issues.

FYI, I received an update from Warwick today. He states the tanks have cleared customs and he expects to ship them shortly. He told me he understands the frustration and appreciates the patience. I'm looking forward to receiving my Panzer IV

I received a message Tuesday that the shipment be in on Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning as it had cleared customs.

Message this morning was that he did not know what time this morning ,but he added that he would let me know when the tanks had arrived.

I have heard nothing more to date, as WV knows that I will be coming up to pick my 2 tanks up.

I have found this thread,
I must say that there seems to be a 'grey'  issue.
I believe at this time still nobody has what they ordered.
Now I will not mention anybody here  that is responsable for greef,
However there are plenty of good vendors you can trust.
You 'Could' try looking up hobby havoc .
Maybe the Moreton Bay Remote Control Tank Club.
This may lead you to a possible 'better'solution, purchase.

Hmmm,

Seems after i was just told the shipment wasn't turning up - he has relisted these tanks as available - and upped the price on all of them.

Gentlemen, you know I rarely get involved in this sort of deal. However, with information I am privy to now, I ask if anyone in USA, former SSSR, or EU ordered the low cost tanks from Awesome Hobbies last month and early this month. If so and you have received neither your tank nor a refund, please PM me for more information pertaining to what can be done in this sad situation.

Sev
