I am assebling the GP Patty Wagstaff Extra 300S with a DA50R gas engine and would like to know what the best bang for the buck Hitec servo for this 1/4 scale setup to use for this plane. On which controlls can I get away with using my basic $11.99 Hitec BB servos on this plane without risking the model.

The HS-5475HB would be the best bang for the buck at $35.
Which controls can you use your basic servo? The throttle! I wouldn't put them on anything else.

Mike.

One thing I don't understand about servos is why are there standard size ones that are very high torque like the Futaba S3305 at 125 0z for 6v for $35 and then there are other servos
like the HS-5475HB (you mentioned) that are only 61oz of torque wich are more expensive. How are these lower torque servos more superior. Futaba has a few that are like the HS-5475HB also and I can't figure out the difference. The S3305 is an all metal gear servo.

A good example is, shouldn't the Hitec HS-605BBJ be better for $29 than the HS-5475HB

The 5475HB is digital, so the centering and resolution are much better. Futaba does not have a servo in the same catagory as the 5475. The 605BB would work as well but the new digital servo is superior in my opinion.

How about this servo - Hitec HS-5645MG Servo High Torque- the specs look excellent and the torque is way up there.

That's another good choice but will cost a little more money. Your question was the "best bang for the buck"... I guess I should have given more option levels. I would highly recomend the HS-5645MG or HS-5625MG for that application.
