I'm building a Seagull .90-1.25 Extra 260 and I put all the control horn bolts through the holes in my control surfaces. It uses the 2 aluminum washers and a nut to keep them in place with a little loc-tite on the threads.

Where the bolt goes through, it goes through plywood or bass wood. In the directions it said to put a little 30 min epoxy in the holes just before slideing the control horn bolt through. I forgot to do that because I only glanced at the directions. I built this plane once before, and I don't recall putting anything in the holes before because it's in a plywood area, and not balsa.

Do you guys think it will be OK? Or do I have to pull everything apart to put the epoxy in? Because of my experience this is a easy build and I'm wondering if this was a important step I over looked?

Pete

You don't have to do anything, it's your plane. I use thin CA to harden the wood, not epoxy. The why of it is the screws may compress the wood a bit and the screws may loosen up a bit then wobble around and enlarge the drilled hole in the wood. That creates a sloppy control surface. Your call.

Pete,

You're OK. Keep an eye to ensure the nut/bolt remains snug and you won't have any problems. Enjoy the plane, you'll love it!

My method would be to drill hole tap drill size, thereby screwing bolt into wood. With the nut then fastened to it it is locked together.
