Hi every one! I use a lot of auto paint, when researching I always come across race cars and planes threads on search engines and I always hear about paint not holding up to fuel. I would like to test my products for compatibility with rc fuel. What Kind of fuel is it? Any peticular brand that is stronger or more harsh? not regular gasoline as the kind of laqcuer I use works just fine with gas. Most motorcycles tanks have been painted with a quality laqcuer. I noticed that duplicolor melts with gasoline and so may most uncatylized paints.

Now if anyone want's to know, a catalized paint such as a urethane clear is very resistant to solvents and gas. Their are many forms of paint with a paint hardener. an acrylic enamel for instance can be hardened and will be very solvent resistant. some will not require a hardener will not be as chemically resistant. The catylist makes a permanant reaction to the paint. Now a one part clear or paint once dried could be turned back to paint again. Lacquer primer or clear if left in a cup with lacquer thinner long enough will eventually turn back to a liquid.

the nitro methane in the fuel in RC's might act like a solvent. I've used duplicolor Metallic engine paint and it has worked excellent in my opinion. It hasn't come off from the nitro. But keep me posted on the automotive paint.. cause it makes me curious.. automotive paint .. you get more for your buck..
