What I need to know is, could I use two 1.5 volt rechargeable AAA alkaline batteries to power a micro receiver and 2 servos? If 2 are not enough then maybe 4? How long would they last if plugged straight in without using a switch?
Is there a nicad pack that would be the same size as a square pack of 2 to 4 cell AAA alkaline?

I want to build a small 2 channel hand launched glider. It is a pod and boom type and has just barely enough room for 2 servos, receiver and maybe 4 AAA batteries. I have a couple of 9oz micro servos and will get a 4 channel GWS receiver. This will all be a very tight fit. 5/8"W x 3/4"H x 2"L is all the room I have for batteries. I might be able to move things around and get 1"max for width depending on balance.

IF I can't use 2-4 AAA cells or a nicad of same size, I might have to enlarge the plans to fit what you say would be enough battery.

Any other info on using alkaline rechargeable batteries would be a help too.

The voltage stated on these batteries is the initial voltage, not the average. I would recommend you use 4 cells.

Thanks for the reply Red.

I have been looking around to find a Nicad pack that would be the same size as 4 AAA alkaline, but haven't found anything yet. They all seem to be AA size 4 packs. I remember seeing smaller packs long ago. Are there no smaller packs made anymore?

What batteries are people using for their micro set-ups without electric motors? (glow/gliders)

You have not looked at Radical R/C. They have just what you need in Ni-MH AAA or smaller cells.
