Car folk seem to do better with Helis. They like to bolt parts together rather than saw,carve,sand, and glue.

If you go with helies do yourself a favor and get a 500 size electric or .30 size glow to start with. This little ones are a pain. I learned on a Blade SR "300 size". If I had it to do over again I'd have gotten a 500 size T-rex clone called a Chaos. Imagine the diffrence in handling of a 60 MPH 1/30 scale RC car and a 60 MPH 1/8 scale RC car.

It's confusing but lets go by engine size since you know that.
250 = Cox .049
450 = .15
500= .30
600 = .50
700 = .60-.90

Each size is about double the smaller size. You can put a 450 size heli in a 600 sizes cockpit.

If you're going to try helis, start with the coaxials. Much more stable when you have absolutely no clue. I doubt it last 5 minutes before it goes to the trash.

Get on a simulator first

As a plane pilot who's now learning helis, I can second the suggestions both to stay away from mini collective pitch helis and to stick with a coaxial. Any CP heli, even the bigger ones, will last about 10 seconds in the hands of an inexperienced pilot on a good day. If you can get some training and are disciplined enough to listen and learn, you will probably do fine with one though. That generally means joining a club and from your posts in the beginner plane forum I know you don't want to do that. You'll likely spend 5 times the money that an AMA membership and club dues will cost you before quitting if you try to fly CP helicopters alone though. The little skyfly airplane is a better choice if you just want to open the box and fly. It's like the coaxial helicopter of airplanes.

IMO keep at least one car, that way, you have an RC to screw around with when it's too windy to fly.

Here is the size difference between a 450 size motor and a 600 size one.
