If the base engine was a good product the conversion should be good. Often weigh a little more than engine made specifically for RC but that's not a problem. People get to hung up on weight anyway.

There will be a Homelite 25, a Poulan 21, a Featherlite 17, and a Ryobi 31, with the rear carb. I'm trying to get out of glow, as much as I can, and I'm hoping to do it cheaply. Most of these, hopefully, will go on sticks of different sizes.

Then I wouldn't need these US or DA engines, would I? Sure would save me a lot of money. I'm just saying each of us have a different type of flying. Not everyone likes to fly fast or slow. Someone asked for advice and I guess he got his answer from all the replies. Buy and fly what you like, just enjoy it.......

Hi guys.
I have seven DAs, a couple of US, and a bunch of Zenoahs. My experience makes very clear that they are very different:

DA 50: Powerful, light, fragile, very good torque.
DA 100: Same as the 50, not so fragile
US: Robust, poor power, heavy, several other issues. I would not get another one of these.
Zenoah 62 and 80: Probably the best engines ever. Especially if you know that they need to be above 7k rpm to get alive. They last forever, even when leaned out with a broken prop!
Quadra: I have a 52, a 100 and a 200: They are not good, even as paper weights.

My advice: if you will not use this for 3D, get a Zenoah.

The quadra 42 has been redesigned into the 400 and has a replaceable jug. It is no longer a clamshell engine.

In response to "hanko's" comment "Witch is better a fat gal or an ugly one" the ugly one,if she has a great figure you can turn out the lights then you can't see the ugly, but with the fat it will still be there. My bad!

I tried to stay out but the topic keeps bringing me back!!! my own trial and error was this!!! i purchased a 20 year old new in the box a&m 3.2 and stuffed it in a 30% yak!!!! it would and did fly the plane with plenty of power and authority!!! for 1980's standards!!!! it was top of the line because thats all we had back then!!!! did'nt have the power and torque like todays engines!!!!!3-d was unheard of!!!!! if all you want to is tune and fly by all means do what you can afford!!!! and remember opinions are like *%#$ holes everybody has one!!! it's your hobby!!! live and learn as most of us had too!!!!! over the years!!!!! now the a&m 4.2 i have is a stump puller which i also mounted in the same 30% yak would 3-d and some????? FOOD FOR THOUGHT!!!!

The Q 40 is not remotely related to the old Q 42 or 41,,,,No where, no way...I got both from Klaus himself, many tears ago, and have run both...

3w85, da 85, evolution 80 or the new DLE 88 will all work well
