Gary, the speakers are for your gun sounds I assume, can you mount them in the location of the oil cooler intakes or are the speakers too large?

Yes, and yes, we plan to mount them in that location. They are not too large, and they are housed in an acoustical box for better sound. They have a molded in stand of sorts that we will cut as needed.

The lights, smoke, and sound will all be synchronized together for affect. That is our goal. Brian has the lighting and sound figured out, we are still waiting on the smoke system. It will all be sized to fit in the compartments behind the wing intakes.

Because the front will be open, I want to make provision for exit air as well. The plan is to have the smoke exit the shell discharge chutes and trail off the wings behind each gun from there.

You can see in the picture, there is a fairly large compartment behind each intake. Under the center hatch will be all the switching and charging plugs and jacks.

Good question. Thanks.

Here is the tool Brian had made for the wing hinges, and how it is used. Worked like a charm. This keeps the wing hinge line perfectly parallel. Very important. You 'tack' the hinge mount in with this tool, then glue it good with Hysol.

Where the pivot winds up is a direct result of where the factory positioned the spar. In our case, I believe they got the spar a degree more tilted, the reason for the slight notch in the top skins at the hinge.

In the manual, they tell you you need something like this tool, but don't provide it.

Six Truths in Life

1. You cannot stick your tongue out and look up at the ceiling at the same time, a physical impossibility.

2. All idiots, after reading #1 will try it.

3. And discover #1 is a lie.

4. You are smiling now because you are an idiot.

5. You soon will forward this to another idiot.

6. There is still a stupid smile on your face ..

I sincerely apologize about this but I'm an idiot and I needed company. You now have 2 options...delete it, or send it along to put a smile on someone's face today

Sorry guys, I know this is off topic just a tad, but we all need to laugh once in awhile.

Building scale does this to you.

Yes I did Dave. and I sent a reply. I've had trouble a few times with this system. Not sure what gives. It may be that I replied in the email notice instead of using the link to RCU and replying directly in the site. That doesn't seem to work. I'll go back and take another look.

Thanks for the heads up buddy.

Gary

LOL!!!!!! Casey, you just made me laugh harder than I did when I fell for it myself.

My brother Bruce sent me this, and I couldn't resist sharing with you guys.

I took a break from working on this tail door linkage late at night, and had a good laugh over it.

I threw together a mock up gear door so I could reposition the linkage on it with out drilling unnecessary holes in the carbon fiber one, as I experiment with locations.

Used 1/16 balsa and laminated 1/64 ply to it to hold the shape, and cut a couple hinges from 1/8 ply. 10 minutes. Should have this figured out and done today.

From the Vegas CARF Corsair Crew,

Standard issue, right?

Really, it is a wonderful kit to work with. Can't say enough about the condition of the molded parts. The appearance of the surface and the fit is outstanding. There are absolutely no significant defects, or even pin holes, to backtrack on, as with other composite I have worked with.

It is just a tedious plane to build because of the nature of it, and even more so if done with competition as a goal. Added to that, is the additional work in making the change from an F4U-4 (the kit), to an F4U-1A that we are modeling.

We are talking about the pulsating smoke system for the guns. It will be coordinated with the sound and lights.

No, I didn't see that yet. I have had absolutely no problems or even so much as a glitch. Electronics are sometimes hard to diagnose. I'd be taking a hard look at every electrical component in the planes. Mitch has hundreds and hundreds of his gear conversions out there, and this is the first I have heard of anything like this.

Thanks for the heads up.

Gary

The servos in question are analog. He didn't say that I noticed, but he may still be on 72mhz as well. The 2.4G signal is virtually impervious to interference from within or otherwise. The 72mhz signal would pick up RF from ignitions and even metal to metal noise. Mitch can explain the forces at work here better than I. Perhaps he will chime in.

I have been looking buying a CARF Corsair but I have some major reservations with the gear. It seems they dont work well and require an expensive mod to fix them. I emailed Down and Locked on the price of a mod and never received a reply. Sierra retracts are spotty at best with their customer service and I dont know of another solution. I hate to invest this much money on an airplane that might not work. Comments? Solutions?
