thank you Mike.

No, these are part of the Greame Mears package for this plane.

These parts for the main gear doors are also part of this package. Inner door liners and the scale hinges.

Main gear, wheels and door air cylinders painted and ready to go back to Brian's shop.

The inside of the gear doors and the bays were painted white on this plane, same as the bottom of the plane. The gear was also painted white, but I read in one of my reference books on the Corsair that this was for a maintenance reason. Seems that it was thought that it would be easier for the crews to see cracks in the gear this way.

Thanks Mitch. We have a long way to go yet.

The electric mains, tail gear, wings, and canopy are going to make this CARF edition a very special one. The first in the world to get all of these mods. Other builders are taking advantage of what is now available, through our efforts and vision, and that is gratifying.

Indeed, I get a lot of enjoyment from researching these planes. Simply amazing what pilots and crew were able to accomplish with what they had to work with.

Hey Mitch, sure you received my gear by now from the gopher hit on P 47. Please send send decals when returning gear.  How about the new refferals from here. Word getting out.

Still have the ones inside the rails.

And Down & Locked will be listed in the 'supplier and credits' page with the book for this airplane.

The three stand-offs are 7/8, 13/16, and 23/32 in length and they come directly off the firewall. This gives the 2.5 deg of right and .5 deg of up, when the engine is oriented so the exhaust is lined up with the notches in the fuselage.

These are the custom standoffs we used on #1.

Got some more done on the trim tabs. I figured out how to hinge them, so I could move foreword. I'll hinge them the same way the elevators themselves are hinged. With a rod. Very simple and no play.

Didn't get pictures of the whole process, but I will when I do the aileron tabs.

Gary, Maybe I wasn't asking the question right. I was wanting to know how long of and engine could be put in this plane. (ie DLE222)

The length is not the problem it's the cowl width. The Da-150 will not fit without cutouts I believe

We got our package thru Andy Kane at CARF. http://www.carf-models.com/public_carf/pages/salesReps/persons/repandykane.html

Your local CARF dealer should have a link to it.

Here is what it includes.

-interior main gear doors
-interior tail gear doors
-scale main gear door hinges
-fairings for the flap hinges
-fairings for the aileron hinges
-gun barrel trim for the leading edges
-pilot head rest (cast resin)
-pilot seat tub (fiberglass)
-arrestor hook only (cast resin)
-wing tip nav light lenses
-gear bay interior parts (ABS)
-instrument panel kit
-lenses for camera or approach lights
-tail light base and lens
-scale joy stick handle (cast resin)
-fairing for the tail wheel door
-CD of construction pictures and many full scale detail pictures (very helpful)

It is a lot of parts. Some the items above are sub-kits with many parts in themselves. Time consuming, and in some cases tedious, but not overly difficult. It all looks like you would expect from Graeme (except for the civilian clock in the instrument package) . To be fair, he was modeling a restored aircraft.

Ah, OK. Well, the Moki 250 is 11.5" and it barely fits. I think you have about 1/4" to spare, all the way around.

Thanks Gary for the complete list. It is obvious you have done a ton of research on this model and options and I appreciate all your input.

As always, you are very welcome. We all need all the help we can get, right?

Andy also has a complete cockpit kit available, parts of which we are modifying and blending with Graeme's parts to make a pretty good looking replica. Non of this is inexpensive, but well worth the savings in time, if all out scale is the goal, as it is with our build.

Hi there,Bruno from Belgium again,i did some more work on the wing fold by placing the microswitches.

The one on the uplock claw in picture 1 prevents the servo from the safty lock mechanik to move before the wing is fully folded down.

The two others switchin the wing tip nav light when the wing is down and locked ore in the full up position.

I also changed the hydraulic cilinders by putting proper oil seal rings in it and new polisched 316 steel rams.

Maby sombody can give is thouhts about it.

Greetings Bruno.

Gary: A reference I saw indicated the F4U-1A had a small stall strip on the leading edge of the right wing. Did the plane you are modelling have one? Just  curious since you are doing an incredibly detailed build here. Really good thread!!

Yes Brian. The F4U-1A was the first to have this. And yes, ours will have this devise in the scale location and scale size.

Here is a picture of the full scale devise. You can see it just outside the gun ports.

I have a picture of the actual White 1 BIG HOG showing the device was installed.

Our plane was not equipped with the hard points you see. No need to build them for BIG HOG.

Hello Bruno. You're safety devices are some nice engineering. I think you have made it about as safe as it can be.

We here at Prince Aviation still are convinced that the electric conversion is the way to go. Being driven by a jack screw, once the locking cam is in place, there is no way it can back out without the screw turning. It couldn't be more fool proof and simple.

Gary,
Do you think the electric tail wheel conversion will install without much trouble in my arf corsair?
Problem with the air version is when the air leaks off it drops down on the tail.

Great job.

Yes Vern. I have looked at our ARF, and it could be installed on it as well. The doors are divided at a non-scale location (tire opening is in all four doors), but this has no impact on the system.

Also, the front hinges are not as far back as I installed ours, but again, this has no bearing on the linkage.

Wish I had the ability to CAD the horn and laser cut it out of G-10. I could send you the part that goes on the doors.
