Brian your work on the wing is outstanding !!! It's too pretty to paint!

Geoffrey, I believe the lights were for aircraft identification markers/ landing lights. Probably to avoid the occasional, unfortunate FRIENDLY fire incidents.

I'm back for a minute. I'm in Brian's shop.

The RSCB thread is in the "other kits" section, for those who want to follow what I can post from my shop.

Yes, but no joy. Two weeks later is Top Gun!!!!!!!! Dino needs his mount.

After Top Gun, we have two more Corsairs to build and a Meister P-47. THEN maybe some flying.

It was late and I have been working in the shop till 3am most mornings. Sometimes it is R Scale C Building.

The foil work is truly amazing. Brian the details around the gun ports, outstanding. Something tells me its not as easy as you guys make it look.

MANFRED was kind enough to invite me over to see his CARF Corsair. Words and pictures of this aircraft mean nothing until you see it in person. What a magnificent kit this is !!! the size, accuracy & quality second to none.

It gave me a new appreciation for the work you guys are doing .

Pappy brought me over a set of his new wing root intakes and why anyone would use the abs plastic pieces provided with the kit is beyond me. His set has so much depth and detail it will truly make this part of the ship standout. Thanks Joe!

Thanks Joe. We have to make your intakes look good.

The aluminum really is not difficult after you get past the learning curve. Still, you loose a piece or two once in a awhile when it sticks before youi are ready.

Embossing it with all the details is simple.

Glad you got to see what we are working with. This is a top shelf kit for sure.

Sweet!!! You are so right. These just won't look the same to us without those wonderful intakes.

We are going to need two more sets Joe. I can't see building this next two planes without them.

As you guys know, a rather large and not scale opening is usually made in front of the gear door attached to the strut on these models. This is because the door hits where it widens out, before the door is completely open. The full scale plane had smaller opening because the door retracted up as it was opened, and what was left was covered with a piece of leather. Our model works the same way. Brian has articulated the door to move up, and a piece of leather will cover the scale void that is left.

The holes are where the mounts for the leather are screwed on after paint.

The goal is for all the paint to be done by the end of this coming week end. That leaves about 2 weeks for other details before Toledo, and then a couple more for the mechanicals and trials before Top Gun.

This eliminates the rather large holes you saw on yours. Unavoidable if you don't do something like this.
