How about a CARF bashed into this?

Already done , please see corsair review on CARF website.
http://www.carf-models.com/public_carf/pages/products/700000/079000/corsair_fmt.pdf

Cannot read german myself but pictures tell a good story. I did something similar with my Royal Corsair a few years back. Flew great and great colour scheme in the air.

Yea, another friend pointed out the same build. The final analysis by those close to the type, was that it was a good sport "Sunday" flyer type, but not scale enough for competition. Looks cool though, and I well know how much work the mods must have been.

A racer called "City Of Painsville" was an F4U-1D which was earlier known as Lucky Gallon. A perfect match for the CARF with few mods.

Here is a video of one already done. But the colors are all wrong. She was Cream and Maroon.

You probably seen this,  I thought about this scheme for my F4U-4  bash, its a bit different but metallic blue is a bit garish!

Yea, I did. It is a good choice as far as version for the CARF (you would still need to do a flat wind screen for scale), but I thought the same thing. The colors didn't do anything for me.

Really enjoyed the pictures Dave, as always. I think Frank did a good job of capturing the highlights of the week with his selections. He even included our trashed prop after the thrown Push rod. I was surprised to see that one in there, but it does illustrate the need to come prepared for anything at an event like this. We learned a lot at Top Gun.

Thanks Gary. He actually posted all the photos I gave him. Those were my selections.   There are probably a few in there I could have left out, but I didn't want to miss anything either.

Another video of the Corsair at Top Gun. It was at the very end of this flight that one of the Moki push rods flew off and into the prop, splitting one blade in half. Dino landed immediately when we noticed the loss of power (initially thought to be overheating) with no damage to the engine. We replaced the prop blades and the missing pushrod (the rocker had also come off, but was found STILL IN THE COWL), with no further issues with the engine or prop.

At the end of the video, as the plane taxis in, you can see that almost half of one blade on the prop is missing, something we only realized when we shut her down.

Gary,

There are many times in the video that your plane looks exactly like the real thing. You guys did an amazing job on that plane. You deserve a lot of accolades for your work, and for being kind enough to document it along the way.

Thank you!

Thank you Greg. That is the best compliment a scale builder can get IMO. Credit must be given to Dino as well for doing such a wonderful job flying the Corsair in such a scale manor. Amazingly, he does this with high travel rates and no expo on anything but the rudder. A very skillful pilot.

Work continues on another Corsair. It has not been as fast and steady as I expected due to some family needs now a new tragedy within. Sorry friends, for the lack of pictures and updates. I'll try to get caught up in the next few days.

Thanks Casey.

It has been challenging to say the least, and then last week a young man only 35 committed suicide. very sad. He had been married for 15 years and his wife found him after several hours.
