Status: offline 		As for other mod parts. Anything is possible. It just takes time, and in spite of submitting many requests for more, I still only get 24 hrs / day like everyone else.

Even with three of us working on this stuff, it takes an amazing amount of R&D to get things off the ground. Pun intended.

The passion we all have in common for making our creations realistic and special is the driving force, not the money. That is for sure.

I just looked at your hatch video on YouTube.
I notice that you have a onboard fuel pump.
Is it necessary to use a fuel pump with a Moki250 ? Did you install that after copping with issues ? In that case , what is the brand you use ?

Hello Stan. IMO, yes, the pump is very good insurance for a very expensive engine and usually airplane as well. I didn't wait till I had issues. I followed the recommendations of some very experienced Moki users like Scott Prossen.

There are other sources, but the price is pretty good in this link.

You will see easier starting, excellent midrange and smooth transition throughout the throttle range, and about 300 more RPM using the pump. The internal pump on the Moki is marginal at best, and subject to clogging if the vent line is not maintained. This is no longer an issue using the external pump.

I mount the pump on the bottom of the tank. This way it is gravity primed, and primed in an instant. It only has about a 4" supply line to it, and it is all down hill.

I would not run a Moki without one. Opinions vary.

Status: offline 		Regarding the cable that I use for the operational cowl flaps, it is the Sullivan stock #514. It is 48" long, 122cm, steel cable with nylon housing. I use this for all cowl flap installs.

The mounting bolt hole is not pictured. It will be at the base of the opening in the longest pipe.

Status: offline 		Another CARF with operational cowl flaps. The cowl is mounted to the new cowl ring I made. The mounting brackets CARF gives you ARE NOT THE CORRECT RADIUS. You need to lesson the curve on the three mounting brackets for them to fit the radius of the ring, and keep the curve of the cowl consistent. I'll post a picture of this later. You don't notice this so much till you cut the flaps off the cowl. The cowl is much more flexible without them.

On this next operation, I don't find the manual to be very helpful.

I now choose to mount the cowl first (learned this the hard way), then the engine. This way, you can easily center it in the cowl. It is very tight with the Moki engines, and it must be centered or you will be poking lifters through your cowl. I get the stand-offs for the engine made to establish the 2.5 deg right, and .5 deg up thrust. They give you dimensions in the manual to locate the center of the bolt pattern, but they don't tell you how long the stand-offs need to be to accomplish the thrust angles they want. I'll post that later as well. I make temporary stand-offs out of 1" dowel, then when I have everything aligned properly, I use these for patterns to make the permanent ones out of aluminum. After this is done, it is just a matter of moving the engine around in the cowl to align the exhaust ports and center it. Once this is accomplished, I remove the cowl, mark the stand-offs on the fire wall, and drill the holes.

Something else on the engine bolts. You will find that is is difficult to get the long bolts in from the front due to all the piping on the Moki. I have found it easier to run the bolts out from the inside, and use nuts on the engine. You can very easily get a wrench in from the side to tighten them.

Status: offline 		BTW, this build will have electric gear (plug-in wings, so no electric folding wings), operational cowl flaps, electric canopy, gun system with sounds and gun flash, nav and formation lighting, and my top hatch with gas cap release. She is powered with a Moki 215 and one of those wonderful Solo props. We have a closed air system on the main gear doors only. This is completely in the wing. For this reason, I think I will use my linkage system to control the tail gear doors. No air in the fuselage that way.

Status: offline 		The bolt coming from the back of the firewall. These are temporary bolts. The permanent ones will be hardened and had self locking nuts.

The three stand-offs for this Moki 215 are 1 1/2", 1 15/32, 1 7/16.

Status: offline 		This is the cowl / flap ring that mounts to the front of the fuselage. The V groove gives room for the front of the flaps to retract into. They would bind otherwise, because I mount the hinges 1/8" back from the front of the flap so you don't see the hinges, as on the full scale.

Status: offline 		Here are the cowl mounting brackets in place. I use blind nuts the protrude through the bracket. This offers an alignment guide for easy installation. The bolts are installed from inside the open cowl flaps. Much easier than trying to install them through the front with the baffles in place.

These will get a little glass, Hysol and some Steel Powder for permanent installation.

The R&D is done on the Corsair exhaust. Fixtures are made, and they are in production.

We will be working on the P-47 in the coming weeks. They will be sized for the Meister and a little larger for the CARF. I hope to be able to offer smaller ones for the Ziroli and Yellow as well.

Eventually, I would like to offer exhaust for all the Meister and CARF war birds.
