......Combat F-16? Probably more difficult to set one up properly than your FEJ!!

LOL...that's good. Yeah, Skymaster 'quality' helps that happen, can't take all the credit.

This L-39 can't take half the 'firmness' of some of the landings that other planes handle with no trouble. I'm working with a buddy on beefing up the gear mount area. The Skymaster design is not well braced to handle the torsion applied by trailing link gear...especially when it's only half-glued, and with Chinese 'hysol' to boot.

I've flown their L39 and liked it so at least you'll have a good flier when you get it all fixed up. That has a way of making all the problems leave your mind.

Well i finished my F16 today , put everything together and worked flawless. One major thing left and that is to prime engine valves and start the engine and hopefully all goes well.
It will take a while to recover from my injury so maiden flight will be delayed for a couple of months.

A small video of functions that was filmed at 1080p and got knows why youtube edit it on 360p!!!!   http://www.youtube.com/user/northnik

regards

Nicos

As a Chopper instructor and Helicopter/Jet modler I was wondering if you had seen this one yet?

The new Eurocopter.  No tail rotor so it looks like the torque pedals may control the thrust of the 2 propellers independently.

Imagine this machine loaded down with ordanence.

doesn't look like a very good combat design setup but i bet the props are a real treat during a retreating blade stall.

hi to all readers of this  thread, i am using fenders thread as mine is also FEJ F16 1/6 but with honeycomb material and i post here just for information to all who are interested.
yesterday i weighted the plane after i installed everything and had the header tank full and gears extended. what i have extra on this is a triple ring afterburner and controller plus 7.2v 1000mah , D4S light system and controller plus lifepo 6.6v 2500mah, animatronic pilot with 6v nimh 2000mah,powerbox smoke pump,2 digital screens for cockpit and the detail package from D4S. To have the plane balanced at recommended 220mm i needed to move 3 batteries behind the cockpit area and then just lifted it up and showed 16.1kg= 35.4lbs
i have installed a K170 on this baby and i think i will be ok. i quess if i could avoid some of  the extras the plane could weigh from  about  an average 15kg=33lbs maybe less.

Hi, i did fit details4scale speedbrake on my fej f-16, lots of work cause they were made for skymaster. But with modification, it fit, and i'm happy i did it , i could solidify the glue joint inside the elevator support. If interest i can post pics later.

Weight is pretty good for all the bling! I will eventually sale this one and get the new version so can fly it with wing ordinance. Maybe even go with the larger one.
Looking good

Fenderbean:  I read this whole thread today after KC mentioned in another thread you were getting guff for getting an f-16 as your first jet.  After reading all this, you and I are very similar in our thinking.  You are an inspiration for sure!

Let me ask you this, in retrospect, do you think the f-16 was a good jet to start with?  I watched your 11th landing, that lands slower than my HET a-10!  If you could do it over, would you of got a shock (not) jet?

I'm in the same spot now you were last year.  I have a FEJ f-16  except mine is 1/8th scale.

I wonder if the 1/8th scale lands faster perhaps?  On this page:
http://wigen.net/hobby/f-16/

Watch flight #7's landing around the 3:24 mark.  I bounces like yours except it actually stops in the air about 5 feet up,  and the pilot pulls out of that...  I dont know about you about that doesnt look like a jet that lands "Fast".

Well even what I know today I still would have done everything the same, the only thing I would have done different would be not let people suck me into to childish banter and just used the block feature more . I know my abilities and so I had no worries about being able to fly my Jet, I was nervous for sure but when you have this much money in something its just the way it is. I think a lot of people land a lot faster than they have to. Good luck
