Status: offline 		The paint on the F-4 horns is latex house paint that I had matched at Home Depot. You think this will attack the Nylon/Plastic whatever Skymaster is using? I have painted all my linkages on all my jets with Hundreds of flights. Never a problem. Was I just lucky??

Latex house paint should do anything to the plastic, however to be on the safe side I would still replace with CF horns

Status: offline 		Here is the new aluminum servo arms I am using. I only had four on hand so I have to wait for the rest to show up in order to convert everything.

Status: offline 		Here is the stock elevator setup vs the new setup with the aluminum arms. I had to remove 15 thousands from the arm in order for the Sullivan Golden Clevis to fit on and allow the retaining clip to be attached. I also had to realign the ball linkage location on the stab horn. The Dubro arms are offset and the new arms are not.

Status: offline 		Here is the stock rudder linkage with the Dubro horn vs the new setup with the Futaba aluminum horn and ball linkage. I don't like the bulky ball linkage out there but it is needed considering the bad geometry of the design. The ball linkage allows the rudder horn to swing without putting stress on it. By the way, the paint is water based and should not cause any problems for the plastic / nylon rudder horn.

Status: offline 		I finally got the long awaited pictures from Skymaster/X-treme today and gave the OK to ship.  I should have my F-4 in about a week.  In the meantime I'll anxiously wait for Woody's flight report and advice on CG and throws.  By the way thank you for the excellent build thread.  I'm sure it will help me a lot.

Status: offline 		Not sure Mike. I am still converting the servo arms and working on some other details. I am yet again changing the elevator setup. I am going to ditch the Sullivan golden clevis and use another ball link. I'll post my results. I applied aluminum tape under my stab to minimize the effects of the heat. I just ran it up and it seems to help. Still loosing paint in some other areas. I may need to teak the pipe angle somehow.

Mike do you have any pictures that clearly show your pipe angle?

Status: offline 		Mine is ready to go, but we've entered the HEAT season (with humidity at 4%) and it's just too hot to do a maiden (106 today). We're also surrounded with our traditional wild fires and visibility is very low due to the smoke, so I'm going to sit on it a bit longer. I did drop my tail pipe angle down 1/4 of an inch as the tail feathers were warming up considerably. It helped a lot with the heat on the ground. Buck suggested it, as he did it on his big one. Staying tuned......

I've made a couple of changes to Phantom since we last communicated. I decided to go with a new P-100 rather than my 120SX. The airplane only weighs 18 pounds and as you know the new Jetcat series of turbines is very east to rig. They are also very small. Our entire State has just been given a Red Flag Warning, so I probably won't be able to do the maiden until our monsoonal winds bring some rain; usually July. Our density altitude is now over 6.7K with our very warm temps. Keep you posted.

What's included in the 18 pounds?  Is that the complete airframe with everything ready to fly except the engine?
 
I've been debating between using a 100 or a 140.  My preference is to keep it as light as possible and use a 100.  Mine should be here next week and one of the first things I'll do is weigh everything to help decide which engine to buy.

Status: offline 		Hi Dom, no picture but it is pointing down, i never had any heat problem on the elevetor, i ran the turbine about 12 times, and made 5 flight, with no heat damage.

Status: offline 		That is complete but totally dry. I've used JR DS3421 servo's throughout; except for one 8711 on the flying stab, and a UP3 valve to help keep the weight down. Batteries are in the nose with just a few BB's to balance slightly ahead of the forward wing rod. I've also put three small air tanks in, vice two large, one in the nose with Batts and one each aside the turbine. Can't wait to fly this machine, but no relief in sight with respect to the heat and fire situation here in Arizona.

Status: offline 		My F-4 finally arrived.  After weighing all the parts plus the radio and other equipment I'm planning on using it comes to about 20 pounds without an engine.  It should come out about 23 pounds dry with engine.  I can't imagine Chris's being only 18 pounds, perhaps you should double check your scale.   With 6 pounds of fuel the take off weight will be about 29 pounds, so I've decided to go with a 140.
 
I have the long (E nose) version and it looked bigger than expected so I measured it.  I was suprised to find that it's 83" long and 55" ws.  That's larger than the advertised 79" long and 53" ws.  I hope to get going on it soon.
