Looking to build my first quad copter. Trying to decide between these two control boards.

HobbyKing Quadcopter Control Board $29.95 but backordered

KK Plus V5.5d Multicopter controller $21.77 shipping soon.

I see the KK board supports hex and tri copters but thats no concern. I'm building a quad.
The KK board comes with MEM module and gyros while the HK board comes with Piezo gyro. My understanding is that piezo is better but again I'm a novice so I'm not sure.
They both appear to come pre configured and read to fly after calibration.
The KK has a optional LCD programmer that doesn't require a PC and can be used in the field.

My main concern is stability and the ability to shoot aerial videos.

Hi there

Have a bit of experience between the piezo (Telebee) gyros of way back and the newer MEMS gyros (Spartan 760 and Align GP 750).
The biggest reason for me to move over to MEMS gyros was for gyro drift - remember headlock on a heli and then it would need to be trimmed to stay in the same place from the start of the flight till the end... I'm not convinced of claims that Piezo gyros handle vibrations better as vibrations are bad for accurate gyros full stop. If the piezo might have worked better for someone somewhere how can we be sure the piezo gyro just isn't less sensitive overall...

My opinion is that the MEMS gyros are just way better - but that is the Telebee / Align GP750 comparison above. Whether the same applies to the two controller PCBs you mention is someting that'll take some time to get the verdict on.

Good luck with your decision

Also the KK Plus V5.5d Multicopter controller Support all KK firmware (With Atmel 168 MCU)

The HobbyKing Quadcopter Control Board only supports the Atmega48PA IC.

So the KK Plus V5.5d is a better choice
