Invert, your right. The power system was the cheapest, low power, most simple method of getting some thrust out the back.

In ideal ( on a test stand) conditions with clean air I got 120mph eflux. Around 4.5 lbs of thrust. The model came in at 6lbs, 9oz.

It has no ducting and 3 bulkheads that the air hits as it enters the side intakes. Lipos in front of an extended bell mounth, ect......

When I get the complete intake system done, I will post a pic of what I tried to fly this 104 on. NOT an impressive installation..

I did have a 2650watt 160mph 7lbs of thrust set up in it at first, but then thought that system could be damaged in the testing. So that one will be for one of the other 104s' after I get all the components completed.

I figure the 20-30 mph wind did not help much when I tried to turn it back into the wind with little power. Thrust would have good right at that point.

I will make changes to the one that "fell' out of the sky and also I will begin fabricating another 104 this coming week. With real power.

Maybe.....

Lots of options to go.

HI:
Does anyone know of a place to buy the blue or pink foam in the Ontario-Fontana area? I have checked with Home Depot and Lowes in the area with no luck. I was looking for 1'' and 2'' 4x8 sheets.
Thanks for any help.
Don

Amp - In Denver I get white, pink or blue from Home Depot. They stock 2" x 2ft x 8ft.

Amp

I use a local contractor supply operation. The big box stores trend to just carry the fanfold or 3/4 inch stuff, some will stock larger sizes. My source carries 2.0 and 4.0 inch planks, it is really heavy, nearly twice the weight of the white Poly Styrene. I only use the blue stuff for the high performance/larger scale applications. On the smaller scale stuff, you can build stronger/lighter surfaces with white foam under balsa and light glass skins, than blue foam with glass skins only.

I am sure some will argue the point till they are blue in the face... I don't care about what is cool or trendy I just go with good ol' proven/simple techniques.

Best of luck and good hunting.

Wolf

To each his own. Especially on foam!

But, I gotta go with BD5 on this foam thing. Cheaper too.

Now to get some real performance out of what ever system.

The intake duct fabrication. It's going pretty quick.

Thanks for showing your process. I may have to make some intake ducts in the future.

Ducting I made.

RCU pics posting is a joke next to RCG. Many more very easy to load pics on RCG, EDF forms if interested.
