One of my local tracks charges fifteen dollars to race. I think thats a bit steep but they got a great place. There's a carpet track, a dirt track, rock crawling course, and a helicopter section inside. Outside there's another dirt track. I like this one for off-road racing because the indoor track was designed for 1/10 scale and smaller electric models so I see a lot more short course trucks there. Another track charges ten dollars. On off-road days there's no short course trucks. (At least when I was there) I go here for the dirt oval racing when people bring the short course trucks.

I lucked out. A friend of mine owns a HUGE track about 15 minutes away from me, lets me use it anytime of the day or night and doesn't charge me a thing. I do believe, though, that he charges others like $5. And yeah, $15 is WAY too much to charge in my opinion.

Holy Sh**!! I checked around and, not including the track I mentioned earlier, the other 4 tracks in my area are $2, $3, $5 and $5. The $2 one is indoor, but the others are outside and very nice.

$15 is reasonable, the old offroad track I raced at now charges $25 on a regular night and $30 for a points series night.
The dirt oval I race at now, it's $10 for the first car and $5 for each additional with a max of $20.

Maybe its reasonable in South Dakota, North Carolina and Texas, but definitely not here in Michigan.

ThunderbirdJunkie pays $15 for the first class and $5 for each additional class. He refuses to work hard enough to race 3 calsses a night, so it's $25. The points series he is in is $25 for the first class and $15 each additional, so $40 once a month to go race 2w SCT and 2w buggy.

Until it closed down the track we raced had one indoor 1/10 clay track, and indoor racing was $15 per person and additional $5 for other classes, they also had a 1/10 outdoor clay track and a 1/8 outdoor clay, and that was $10 per person per class.

The new one we go to, www.medinarcraceway.com , Lets us use the family plan of a total $20 for myself, my fiancee, my brother and my cousin, which covers my fiancees Mod CORR, me and my bro for 4X4 CORR and my cousin for Monster Truck.

In MY OPINION,
$15 is reasonable, remember, track owner has overhead to pay to provide us with a place to race. Also, they are not getting rich doing this.

In all honestly, Sigma.40 often appears to be "that guy" that lowballs tons of prices and offers and thinks everything is outrageously expensive.

Just an observation from some of the posts he's made.

Actually, I called the hobbyshops and asked them what the prices were. And I have no idea what posts you are talking about. If it was about how used RC prices seem to be more up here, they are ( sometimes significantly). Thats why I drive 5 hours south to Detroit.

I will concede that maybe our races aren't as formal or as strict as other places. Every race is either for fun or a very small cash prize.

Sigma, ThunderbirdJunkie didn't mean to be insulting in any way...he just was noting behavior he'd noticed over the past few months. Stuff being genuinely overpriced would certainly a good reason to piss and moan about prices

ThunderbirdJunkie's track is not the least bit organized or strict. It's extremely laid back. More often than not, the starting grid for each main winds up with 2 or 3 buggies or SCT's stacked on top of each other for the main because of screwing around. There are some extremely fast guys here, though.

No insult taken, TBJ. Its as I've been saying, though, RC prices seem to be very screwed up here. Some things are WAY more expensive and some things are WAY cheaper. Like the stock Slash 2wd (brushed, AM radios) that regularly go for $250-300 on CL, yet our RC tracks seem to be significantly cheaper like $2-5). So when I see something like a $15 fee for a track, its pretty shocking.

At least now I have an idea what I'll have to put up with when I move to L.A or NYC next year.

Well, if I were able to go to a venue like this......I would easily pay 15 bucks a go.

I've been involved with building, maintaing and paying for outdoor off-road tracks. Believe me.....15 bucks to have a go at a decent track...or 3 and fly....indoors... ...WOW!!!

Wish there was a place like that out here...
