It was a truly great event. I'm glad to have been there for the "20th" I was busy all days manning my booth (Aviation Concepts). But I did get to fly my C-130 in the evenings of Thurs-Sat.

Thanks for a great time. Will be back next year.

Here are some pics I took of some of my buddies planes at the event. The "Swampflyers" were well represented. We had 6 pilots and 12 aircraft at the event.

Thanks to all who came to our party! You make it worth the effort!
Great credit goes to the long-suffering Malchiones, and to the Club volunteers who made this event run as smoothly as it did.
Tom's Flag was the icing on the cake and helps remind us of why there are Warbirds.

I've posted a bunch of my photos from the event on http://kirchstein.net/Warbirds2011/

I said the B-26 video would be the last one I'd post from Warbirds Over Delaware 2011, but I decided I had the footage, so why not? I put together a short video on Saturday's WWI Scramble

I`m was not a fan of the WW1 era due to the slow flying speed , not my thing , but I got to tell you seeing this on Saturday for the first time that many WW1 planes up at once Ohhh I`m getting me one. It was a blast, 20 planes up and buzzing around at the right speed was exciting. Never thought I would be getting into WW1 , but I am now , YES SIR. You all not leaving me out the next time...

Yea he got a bit too slow going down wind, I just caught when it was level again and he had brought the power up. When he flew over the field and made the right turning out he had cut the throttle down quite a bit. With gears down and going up wind it was ok, but as he turned down wind the head wind was no longer helping lift so it did a wobble. Would like to see the video... anyone????

Paul lost power on one engine and the B-26 is very critical on one. Rudder control and reducing power on the good engine saved the aircraft. GREAT FLYING SKILL AND COOL APPROACH TO THE PROBLEM.

That was a classical Vmc demonstration when related to full size aircraft.

Boy can I relate to this. Been flying WWII warbirds since 1989, could give two hoots about WWI till 2008 when the 1/3 scale D-VIII came along. What a blast I've been having with it. Thats me in the very front of the WWI scramble video launching the D-VIII. Sal Calvagna did a feature on it in the August 2008 MA mag. There were 22 WWI aircraft in the gaggle this year, but in 2009 WOD we had 37 up at one time with no problems. My D-VIII is fast with the Zenoah GT-80 on it at 32lbs. so dont think WWI is slow flying. Every warbird pilot should have one. Oh, even Paul LeTourneau has a 1/4 scale Nieuport 17, Paul, I'm expecting I'm expecting you to be in the gaggle with a 60% for next year.

Not sure which flight you are referring to but I took a pic of it coming in and both engines were running.

Ahhh hell Barry you were there, wish I had known...you know we need to wear our RCU names on our T shirts at these events.

Dave, Pete, Dave Jr & the entire Delaware club,

Thank you for putting together a GREAT 2011 WOD! Everyone certainly makes the trip worth it! Hopefully you continue with the great event.

As for the B-26, I lost power on the left engine just after I did a mid-field break to land. I had the gear and approach flaps down when I turned downwind and lost power. I'm not sure how it came out, but it did. At least my butt wasn't in it, unlike the heroes of WWII that had to deal with those possible situations during every mission.

Hope to see everyone again at WOD 2012 (as long as Dave & Pete continue to CD it)

I got the final video up:  Warbirds Over Delaware 2011 - Paul LeTourneau's B-26 Bomber

Who-ever is the owner of that plane needs to do another Range check with the engine running. The right out-board flap(only), rudder and both elevators were moving around during that full-throttle engine run-up and the sticks were NOT being moved.

But on the positive side... good looking airplane and some good piloting.
