Thanks Andrew. I was going to sell mine to Ed for $45, but I guess I'll just keep it if it's worth that much.

I would not draw any conclusions on the basis of one price data point. The engine mentioned had serious repair issues and Enya parts, as you know, are notoriously high. The pre-R Enya 1.20 engines in good running condition are still priced near $200.
Andrew

---------------

While I want a pre R, just to say I have one, no one is going to get $200 out of me for one. I won't pay that much for an R version, which is a more powerful engine. But, if that is what the market will bear, so be it.

I waited until I found a couple of Enya .45CX engines at a good price and finally snatched them up. It took a lot of waiting, however. Now I can once again enjoy the nearly indescribable climbing power of these enjoys. When other ABC engines sag, these AAC engines get busy and get to work. <G>

I just purchased an older well maintained 120 4 stroke. Apparently it's the older /original version 120, with the casted letters on it not the stamped type.
I have to say this loudly...."WOW, WHAT A BEAST" Now with that being said, I wish I had discovered the Enya breed of engines years ago! I just like that raw grunt of power this thing throws out at you when you hit the throttle!!!

A happy Enya owner,
Jim

I feel a little better now. What size props are ya'll runnin' and what about this shimming thing with the larger props? Thanks again

-------------------

What shimming thing?

If the compression is too high for larger props, the problem is using fuel with too much nitro, not the compression. Although shimming will help alleviate the problem, if one insists on using more nitro than the engine was designed for to begin with.

Being an old design (one of the first) four-strokes, the compression is set up to run 0-5% nitro with a wide variety of props. This engine does not need much nitro to make lots of power. On the other hand, it will never be the first choice for flying 3D. That kind of tuning and behavior occurred long after the R120 was put into production.
