Mine flies great @ 8 pounds and a Saito .91 in the nose. Very very smooth flying airplane.

Adrian: Did the overall size remained the same?
When you placed the pieces on the plan they fitted on the overall size?
As I am starting to build this plane I'd like to know about it.
    Thanks.

Moving the elevators forward 1/2" make the elevators ~50% of the stab area. The counter balances make the elevators a bit more than 50%.

So...The scale outline is still there, there will be less load on the servos and I will have more pitch authority.

Thats it for today. Vertical stab and rudder tomorrow.

    Hi all,
I am building the same plane ( GP extra 300 .60 ) , and have a question about the wheel pants.
THe wheels are very tight inside the pants and literally not being able to rotate . THere is no part of the pants touching the wheel and the tightness is because of the nut, that goes through the wheel and tightens at the axle . If i loosen it then the whole wheel pant assembly becomes loose.

Any help would be much appreciated ..

    Thanks to all !
    Gaurav

Sounds like you need to put a spacer (washer or collar) between the nut and the wheel.

    Nice Thread.
I have just completed this plan, and using an OS .91 FX . Anyone has any ideas on using a smoke system with this engine ?
    Recommended equipment for this ?
Would love to see smoke with this plane.
    Thanks to all

    Take a look at here:
    www.tmenet.com/smktips.htm

I already have the simple smoke pump from TME and is great, I hope this will help.

Thanks. I am getting the TME Simple smoker as well. Do you think it will work good with a OS .60 2 stroke ?

The real secret here is to preheat the oil, on 4 strokers this is a simple task but in 2 strokers this is a bit more difficult to accomplish, you will need to coil a brass tubing around the muffler or manifold to preheat the oil before it gets in the exhaust and becomes smoke.
Here is a picture of my set up in a Carl Goldberg Ultimate, using the TME simple smoke pump

Pweeeew, long thread but worth the read. I am just finishing up my kit. I did the tail mods and I bolted a YS 110 to the front of it.
Should be interesting! Anyone still enjoying their Extra 300s? Anyone still building ?

Yeah, I enjoyed my Extra so much that is has become RIP . I think, I had a failing x-tal during flight. Must be ones in a life time that happens? Oh well, I have already promised myself that I will build another one - it's simply that good .

hi, i'm going to put on ,ine OS91 FX,
did u think that i stil have to move to some servos to the rear of the fuse?

if so, relocate the elevatore (2 servos) or the Rudder (1 servo)?

i would build the frame and leave the option open to mount servos in the tail. mine i built for os 120 surpass II w/pump, have mounts for the - (2) hobbico cs35MG (1 ounce each) for the elevators, and a hitec hs 5965mg for the rudder. i balanced it before covering w/enigne mounted and placed the servos anearby held w/tape, placed the fiberglass cowl on the engine; everything as close to the prper place to get a rough balance. then i covered it. now i have a saito 100, about 8 ounces less. now i'll put the 2 ounce rudder servo in the fuse w/a pull/pull.
