You apply the chart tape right before you are ready to rivet and paint.
Very little body work you can do when all the details are on the plane.

Where is a good place in the USA to get the 3/4 oz glass in a roll to cover the whole plane, and where is a good place to get masks for the insignia and numbers to be painted on?

Status: offline 		EJ, Yes I have to fill the scratches from sanding the bondo. I was using 80-100 grit to get the job done and that left some pretty course scatches to be filled. As Fabio said once I get the bodywork done I will do the panel lines and such.

I ordered 20 yards (44"-wide) of the .73-oz. Silane finish (for any resin) plain weave cloth. The fourth item down from the top on the chart. So far, I've used it to cover a 69" pattern plane with it using Z-Poxy Finishing Resin. The cloth wetted-out very well.
 
I just checked Tower and the Hobbico brand 3/4-ounce cloth is $5.49 for a 36" X 36" (1- sq. yd.) piece. Run the numbers on the cloth from Thayer, and it comes to $1.90 per square yard - with free (U.S.) shipping. Of course now I have to build a LOT of models in order to use-up that much cloth. Or, I could co-op it with other club builders...
 
I also bought some 2.4-oz. for wing center section reinforcement.

Status: offline 		Thanks Yates, I enjoyed the challenge of putting those 5 pieces of ABS plastic together. It really wasn't all that bad to tell you the truth. I think it looks more menacing than it actually is. Give it a shot, I'm sure you can do just as good as I did.

Before I start gluing the balsa stringers to the bottom of the fuse, is there something I should be doing in your guys opinion before I block access to the inside of the fuse?
Before I go forward I would like to know if you had any retreats after you sheeted the plane and could not get back in there.
Did I make any sense?

Status: offline 		I didn't need to get back in there Fabio. I ran the airlines to the tail-wheel retract, put the air-tank in, and I also hooked the line up to the tank and wrapped safety wire around it. I'm sure you already have the push rod tubes in by this point as well.

Thanks for the reply
I am ready to sheet the bottom of the fuse.
Before I do that however I need to tackle the inter cooler doors.
The instruction are a bit sketchy.
I am assuming that the flat white piece of plastic in the box is the one I need to use to fabricate the doors.
I am scratching my had to how I can cut the hole accurately on the fuse.
Should I cut out the template from the plan and try to cut it with it?
How did you go about it?

Yeah, I understand your pain. The plastic that they provide in the kit in my opinion doesn't give enough margin for error. Everything MUST be cut exactly right the first time or you won't have enough to complete both doors. True to form, I messed up the first cut and I went to Home Depot and bought a handicapped parking sign that was approximately the same thickness as in the kit.
Just follow the plans (side view & top view) and measure everything out. The instruction manual gives you the measurements but the diagram they show is not to scale, so take note of that.
And yes, after I had the bottom sheeted I drew out the opening to be cut and made sure it was the same on both sides.

Status: offline 		BTW, I got all my servos out last night (11 to be exact) and started mounting the rubber shock mounts and little brass thing-a-ma-jigs at the breakfast table. My wife was like "where did you get all those, how much are those things each?" I even got sticker shock when I told her.
I'm running Airtronics 94162Z's on all the flight controls, a Airtronics 94851 digital on the throttle, a Hitec HS645KB on the tailwheel, a Hitec HS85MG on the air valve, and a Hitec 5485 on the choke.
Good thing I bought all these little-by-little over the last year.

You ALWAYS had that stuff and if you have to buy it you can get it easily at the Dollar store.

While I'm saving my pennies for the paint, I'm doing little odds and ends that will speed things up later. I have the cowl in position and ready to mount. I was never a big fan of how they designed the cowl mounts to where they can be seen when it is in the position the plans intend. I do think the way they have it set up will keep good airflow exiting the rear of the cowl, it's just not ideally the best looking as far as scale goes. Oh well, life goes on...

BTW, that's an old prop I had laying around, it's not the one I intend to use.

For prop I really like the Zoar WWII line. I use it in my p-51 and Trojan and it's very scale like and reasonable at the same time.

Status: offline 		Yes, I'm ready for rivets Fabio. I just want the paint ordered before I start applying them. I don't want to have them on there unsealed with paint and still flipping the fuse around on the stand. I don't want to take a chance messing up the work.

I finished mounting the cowl and cut the openings for the exhaust. The HobbyKing muffler fit on there pretty good without too much modification. It's close to the firewall though!
