I am putting a receiver into an electric 50" Edge 540.

I have a DX8 transmitter.

I need a 6 channel receiver.

Which receiver should I buy? And what is the difference between the two?

They will both work with that transmitter. On that plane I would go with the 6210 so you get a satalite reciever to prevent signal shadowing. The 600 is more of a foamie/park flyer style reciever.

Edit: Note that Horizon markets the 600 as a full range reciever, and I use it in a Radian Pro so it does have excellent range, but in your application I'd still prefer the dual reciever installation of the 6210

Thank you for the info.

I will go with the AR6210.

I like the idea of the satalite receiver.

yes, i do my own testing of each new receiver by walk range testing them to the limits of real range.. (usually over 2000 meters line of sight)

the satellite receivers really work.. any one of the 4 antenna on the combined main / satellite rx will provide enough reception to operate the system in line of sight..

having 4 gives you great redundancy..

I was flying with an AR500 back in January.  I had a confirmed brown-out failure which caused a crash.  Range was not an issue.  I was just decending from >1,000 ft in a dynaflight butterfly.  On final approach, lost control and sprialed down OOC.

Sent the Tx/Rx back to HH.  They would not admit fault, but sent me out a new Dx5e (DSMX) with an AR600.  I now have about 7 flights on the AR600 without any issues.  This in in smaller electric glider (FWIW).

I upgraded to the AR6210 for the butterfly.  That plane can fly so high, that I really wanted the extra safety of a sat Rx.  I feel much better know.

Everyone I have talked to says the AR600 is reliable.  It just looks TOO much like the AR500 for me to feel great about it for now.

There is a reason why HH has put great big orange stickers that says "Now included AR600 with DSMX".  Even if they wont admit it,  they lost a lot of credibility with the high failure rates on the AR500 units.

I was amazed that the problems with the AR500 was all over the internet when I searched (post crash).  Their support staff  seemed to have NO idea that there was an issue.  Really? !!

My company would have issued a full scale recall rather that allow the reputaion to be damaged.   ......Whatever.

I have both RX. The AR600 in my Apprentice, and the 6210 in the T-34 Mentor.  One is foam, the other plywood. They both work equally well, good range, no faults, have over a dozen flights on the the Apprentice.

Would I put the AR600 in a wood plane? Nope, but I wouldn't have to put a 6210 in a foam plane either.    Each one has it's own purpose.
