Wolfgang Matt placed 1st 1975 with Atlas and 1979 with Arrow. In 1971 he was 2nd with Bruno Gizendanner 1st place. In 1985 he was 2nd again with Hanno Prettner 1st place. 1995 it was 2nd place again with G Naruke 1st place. Matt placed 3rd a couple of times also, 1977, 1981, 1993, and 1997. Not bad, hard to beat.

However, I remember a quote from Somenzini that pattern at the FAI World level is the most difficult type of flying he has ever done.

1 The level of flying keeps increasing throughout the pack. Very impressive to witness the time, money (lots of it!), and effort the competitors give to the sport.

There has to be a 30% turnover of new judges in each world championship.... compare the list of judges for this year to 2009 and 2007.

And don't be afraid but his older son(5 years old) begin to fly this year Maybe in few years french team will be CPLR, BPLR and APLR

Prelims:

82 pilots, 4 flights over 4 days, 5 judges per flight = 1640 score sheets

Semis:

30 pilots, 2 flights, 10 judges per flight = 600 score sheets

Finals:

10 pilots, 4 flights, 20 judges per flight = 800 score sheets

Total: 3040 score sheets. 17 maneuvers per sheet, 51680 keystrokes

2032 tear sheets printed. Team copy, posting copy, records copy, spare copy.

Every hand written score sheet was manually verified with the computer generated tear sheet, any errors (there were a couple, but not many) were immediately corrected and tear sheets reprinted.

The FAI jury audited the score sheets after the prelims, semis, and finals and found no errors.


A huge thank-you to Linda Jesky (keymaster) , Margaret Guerin (gatekeeper) , and Heather Kaluf (score poster) for your great work.

It is noticeably lacking on the AMA website even though I asked them to add. Remember the top 3 teams are where they are thanks to all the efforts of the others as well!

USA 1938.97
FRA 1938.44
JPN 1933.06
AUT 1887.38
GER 1887.21
LIE 1852.57

Based on AVG of final scores from the competitors. For the remaining countries you'd need to look at the semi-final and preliminary rounds to determine the average scores in the highest round the country competed in.

On the other hand, if final placement is based instead on # of competitors beaten/competitor and average of those points then you can do the math, I don't recall the starting # of competitors, 82?

I don't recall the actual rules for determining final placement off the top of my head, as it happens, both methods come to the same final result for the 6 teams in the finals.

The team classification is established at the end of the competition (after the finals) by adding the
numerical final placing of the three team members of each nation. Teams are ranked from the lowest
numerical scores to the highest, with complete three-competitor teams, ahead of two-competitor teams,
which in turn are ranked ahead of one-competitor teams. In the case of a tie, the best individual placing
decides the team ranking.

Status: offline 		Just got back from the event, and it appeared to be well run. The guys who did so much work to pull the event off deserve a lot of thanks. Most of the teams and members were VERY gracious and polite, and made an effort to talk with people when they had time. There was only one team whose members were arrogant, and none of them made the finals!
Congrats to all of those involved, and again a big thanks for all of the work that was done to host an event this big.

Come on; give us a clue; who were them?

I wish also to remark that several teams were there after making a big induividual-personal effort wth poor support from theirs home association nor sponsors...
In any case, whoever was there as a competitor deserves our respect; being there meant a big effort to anyone.
