Arch and all ...

That sorted by scores list got out by mistake (and is gone from the web site now). The daily prelim scores can only be posted in order of pilot number or country but NOT by raw score totals. FAI rules. Friday is the day all the dust will settle!

I've seen some absolutely fantastic flying! Everybody should come here and see this!!! This contest is a real treat to watch.

Tom

so...during the contest.. there is no way to tell anything about anybody???????????

Do the judges know the name or number of the person they are currently judging?

I scribbed today and my judge only saw the competitor number on the bib, but these guys have been around before and know lots of the competitors.

Only during the 1st four days. Since one can't fly 82 competitors in front of all judges in one day - we split them up into 4 groups and each group flies against 5 judges per day.

I would wager a $5.00 gift certificate to McDonalds the current top 10 scores are a pretty good corrolation to the final outcome!

1- Chip Hyde - 964.4
2- Christophe PLR - 957
3- Onda Tetsuo - 938.2
4- Benoit PLD - 937
5- Mayr Gerhard - 929.2
6- KAISER Stefan - 921.8
7- BESCHORNER Bernd - 921.4
8- MAZZUCCHELLI Marco JR - 898.8
9- Andrew Jesy - 897.8
10- MATT Wolfgang - 896.8
11- Bret Wickizer - 870.8

it would be interesting to know what mode each pilot used???

And BPLR flew from something like 9th place up to 2nd at the EC in Italy in the finals so anything can happen. In which case someone owes us a burger
Great to see Chip up there, and Matt the elder. Gotta love a sport where age is not an issue.

I was mistaken as to which championship, but it's usual to have a re-shuffling of pilots in the finals. The premliminary scores only get you to the final.

Age is a definite issue. The older eyes just don't see as well as the younger. For Matt to be flying as well as he is, it is most impressive thing in this Tournament.

The schedule does not change until Sunday. Flying starts at 0800 and goes until about 6:30 pm at the latest. They do take about a 90 minute lunch break starting a little before noon.

Wolfgang is an inspiration to us 'growing older' folk.. Kind of disappointed to not see Roland there, but I guess he's got too much going on in the banking world...

Regarding age, I'm also very impressed with the young pilots, Onda, Trumpp and Kaiser. Lacking the 30 and for some almost 40+ years of experience of the old hands, the juniors compete at a very high level.

Yeah, speaking of which, Master Trumpp is the son of 2003 German champion Ewald, and I wouldn't be surprised if Stefan Kaiser gets some tutoring from both Matts. But hey, I'll never be as good as them no matter who tries to teach me

It was only a few years ago that I first judged US's young Brett Wickizer at the US F3A Nats. This was the very first large meet for a kid that had flown RC a grand total of 2 or 3 years at the time. As I recall, this kid finished around 6 or 7th that year (2007 maybe? ). I was impressed with his poise going against veterans, and stated so back then. Just a fine talent and, from conversation with Earl Haury, a young guy that does fine in school too. I hope he'll stay with RC for a long time; same hope for Andy Jesky too.....
