William Robison -> where to getwhat you want (8/18/2003 6:03:00 AM)

There is a new thread listing obscure and hard to find model making sources. See it here:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/tm.asp?m=1063414

Please check it, and give us any of your favorites we can include. Help us make it useful.

Thanks.

Bill..

RD:

Not immediately, but I'd try my local sign shops. Many larger signs use thin plastic overlay covering. Also a picture frame shop. Again, many "Matt" prints are done with a protective cover layer.

After that check with Eastman Kodak's products people. Probably wont sell direct, but they could give you some outlets. Also check BASF and their Ansco division. All three of these companies make large format photographic film, at worst they might refer you to another supplier.

Bill.

Since you guys are talking about plastic sheeting and laminates, I thought about a conversation I had recently with a 3M sales rep. 3M currently makes a plastic film for hurricane protection that you put on top of glass windows that makes them shatter proof. They have a sales video that shows a 2"x4" being shot out of an air cannon that bounces off of a window. The window cracks but stays in place and the wood bounces off of it. This is a much cheaper alternative to expensive, think hurricane proof windows.

Anyway I ran into a 3M sales rep in an airport and he told me they were coming out with a bullet proof version of a similar laminate.

We could cover airplanes with this stuff and in the event of a crash no pieces to pick up! Airplane still intact just a little limp. He told me how to find it on the 3M web site but I forgot now and have never looked. It would probably be a lot stronger that the films we use today. This stuff would probably make a very tough airplane though.

quepasa -> RE: where to getwhat you want (11/27/2007 4:42:04 PM)

Steve-69Roadrunner,,,I used to live in Mt.Shasta & flew @ the Montegue A/Field. We may be old Pal's! Check yer PM.
I too am looking for a suitable airframe for 2, .10s.
2, .35's oughta work on a CG Falcon with no problem tho it would be fast. A Sr. Falcon would be better as would a Telemaster for those engines from what others have said here. Q.
