I can assure you, both 8750kv and 10250kv work fine on 2s lipo and NiMH. My response from Horizon was pathetic:

'' Sorry for any inconvenience and problems you have experienced with our products. This will need to come in for a warranty evaluation.

Unfortunately, we can not quote prices or say if it's going to be covered under warranty without first seeing the product in our service center. Evaluations are free.''

Then they go on to tell me about labor charges. Total Bull. After the the thousands I've spent on Horizon products. Even if I never bought anything from them I probably never would again. The truck loses range within 20 feet and they want me to pay to send it in and hope they don't charge me for labor? Luckily I have a spectrum dx3 and it works fine. I'm pissed. The first time I ever need support from them on a brand new product and all they can do is send a generic email telling me to send it in on my dime?

And this was after a 4 day wait. I work. I can't just call them but I'll have to if nothing else to complain about the rep who sent me the email. Or is this really the support I should expect from Horizon on a $150 product?

what pinion and spur are u using?

A little update on my truck. I ordered a new 8750kv motor for my truck along to go with the Spektrum receiver and the Xcelorin ESC I installed. I put a 10 tooth pinion on the motor and setup the LVC to 2s lipo and tried it with my new Thunder Power 2s lipo pack. Man, no hesitation or cogging at all on start up. This little thing rips.

I also ordered a Micro T seeing as how it was only $80 I couldn't pass it up. So what I did with the conversion kit I bought for my SCT was install the 2.4ghz board in the Micro T so I can use it on my DX3S but I'm still using it brushed for now. The Micro T is surprisingly fast brushed, faster than my SCT when it was brushed.

phmaximus. I did find what the frame rate was you were talking about, although it appears I have an older model DX3S radio system that does not have that feature. I might dig around and see if there is a way I can update my firmware or something on it.

Thanks again for the help fellas. I can finally have fun with my truck now.

hey what spur gear are u running. I was playing around with mine last night and found there are a few gearing combos that just wont work with my setup

I run both the stock 58t and 54t spur depending on what I have on hand. I keep shreding them with the 14t brass pinion. (It doesn't matter how perfect I set the mesh or loose I have the slipper). I'll probably go back to the 17t plastic pinion for now.

Anybody know where I can find good (brass?) pinions?
As much as I like to bash Losi parts I wonder if the "thetoyz"
pinions I have are bad (really bad)
and could be a major culprit in my spurgear/pinion problems.
Blackstar hobbies has them but they are sold out..

I got pinions from toyz and wonder if they are bad which is something that has
been raised. I've had pinion/spur gear problems after I started using them.
I'm not sure if they are solely to blame but they seem badly made.
However I found pinions on BPhobbies site and ordered a feigao motor from there as well.
Hopefully a 5800kv will be enough with 16T pinion and 54 spur.

I used a brass pinion set from some ebay seller and they were better than the plastic ones, but still sucked. Pinions should never be made from brass because it's too soft. I don't know of any other options that are steel, though...

Hi, just ordered a Losi Micro Brushless SCT.  Can't wait till it gets here. I want the biggest 2S lipo battery that will fit. At least 40C. Also, it seems like most of the batteries are 250mah. I run 1/10 scale and that seems like very little. Is that all it takes to run it for half an hour? I'm used to at least 5000mah. I want a lipo with punch, but not too much because I'll be running it on an indoor track.

I've been using a cheap Zippy Flightmax 350mah 20c works a treat with the stock chassis and aftermarket chassis. U just need to change either the ESC plug or the battery plug because it's got a different plug.

Hey u mentioned that u want a 40c what do u mean, 40c of what?

Well, like a 350mah 40c battery. Do they make such a thing? How long would a 350mah battery last me? (run time)

thats a good question mine is brushlessso I cant help u, Just so u know the 40c has nothing to do with run times, its to do with current draw.

The brushless ESC is rated to 6a, So for me any thing over that is not going to make it faster. so a 350mah 40c would be completly usless and there would be no advantage over a 350mah 20c battery

Well yeah, i realize that. But I was just looking for plenty of punch. I want a battery that will last along time, pack a punch, and have a long run time. Any suggestions?

The 2s Zippy Flightmax 350mah 20c is the best so far and its one of the cheapest that fits the stock compartment.

but losi have a 3s 200mah 15c

This of course why it's easy to get tired of the stock chassis.
With aftermarket you can use almost anything within reason and you
are actually able to get to components too.

There are several chassis out there.
Exotek, Sheer etc.
blackstarhobbies.com
They are hopelessly out of stock currently
unfortunately, I would like to order another.

Hey, Do I really need a 2S? I mean, is the 4.8v Nimh enough? I don't plan on doing 3S anytime soon, but I was curious if I really needed lipo.

Thanks!

Well that's the idea, but what's the good in throwing away a perfectly good NiMh battery? (Even though it is only 4.8v. )

Sell it, I've still got my original battery just sitting around.

Mind u if it's brushed it will be more reliable with the nimh, the motors get very hot on a lipo and can melt the pinion gear off the motor shaft. If u use a lipo u have to gear down or get a brushless combo

Drive on a NiMh when there's lipo ha ha...
You won't believe the difference.
You go from a sluggish car to doughnuts and almost popping wheelis (on 3s)
2s is probably the best alround power however, more manageble.
