When landing my Ultra sport 40 my right wing hit the cinder block which anchored the limbo pole. I did the limbo with the ribbon only 6' from the ground. Severely damaging the wing.
After doing 30 consecutive loops in a minute my Balsa nova with a 46 and tuned pipe tried to split the Y in a tree. The fuse became a rocket.
When landing closest to the 10 point chalk line my P-51 nosed in when it came across a gopher hole. Destroyed a spinner, prop and cowl.
I did the rest of the fun fly competition with my TF Cessna 81" wing span which after all the ground events came home in one piece.
All this on one nice warm Sunny Sunday.
If I gave up after the Limbo I wouldn't have had so much fun!
My excuse was I wanted to even the contest!!!

Tom

"Radio hit" = stalled airplane
At least on the 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of the cases.

"I've put a 1.80 in there .40 cub, so I can have enough oomph to get out of trouble". Followed by a left snap roll and the "radio hit" yell.

I've see too many botched landings turn into crashes or near crashes: after the "bounce" comes full-panic-power, "go-up-quick" up elevator, and a frozen rudder. Fear and suffering finish much faster if the plane has the extra-oomph forementioned.
"This damn 2.4 radio also gets hits!! I moved the ailerons and pulled the elevator, but nothing happened!"

Seriously, I wonder... ...how will this "extra power" and "extra control throw" supposedly get you out of trouble??
I've seen so many beautifull planes go down "in-spite" of having that extra power and control throw... ...while fighting those pesky radio hits!!!

But.... But... But.... That tree just moved 50 feet to snatch my Edge right out of the sky... Did you see that? That tree just moved...

"I ain't got it,"........when you hear that from someone on the flight line and see the end result you can be sure that there will be plenty of "speculation" on the part of the pilot, and anyone else in attendance, on every possible cause for the failure.

Unfortunately in most cases pilot error won't ever be one of them

I blame that loose nut I let build my aircraft! Wait! That's me, hmm... Never mind!

I should add I never crash I just rekit the airplane!

In their defense far too many people never really learn how an airplane flys and why airplanes do the things they do. Its amazing how learning basic aerodynamics can eliminate so many radio problems.

My favorite excuse, one that I've heard many times, occurs when a pilot makes a too slow turn down low, snaps into the ground and blames it on a radio malfunction.

BTW, all of my many crashes have been my own fault. I can't think of a single one that was not. The best by far was when I wrecked my Majic 3D. I had gotten pretty handy with it and there were some new spectators at the field, so prior to taking off I said "Get a load of this!" while failing to check the dual rate and mixing switches on the tx. I firewalled the throttle and the ensuing five-second flight was epic, some of the most amazing stunts I've ever witnessed during the all too brief effort to gain control. As I recall, the airplane rotated in every possible direction in its own length prior to smashing to bits and destroying what had been a wonderful GMS .47.

Yep poor Spektrum had a number of radio related crashes blamed on them when 2.4 first came out, that were due to all the new experts in the hobby piling 6+ micro servos onto weak 1.5A linear BECs. Flew the AR6000, 6100, and 6110 to the hilt without a single glitch. The only equipment related crash I ever had was with their gear, but it wasn't blamed on Spektrum, just their Eflite ESCs with weak linear BECs, when the other brands were using 2-3A. I had reservations before the flight, as the ESCs were poorly cooled in the fuse. Same thing goes for small single conversion equipment. Lots of crashes blamed on it. I've flown using GWS Pico receivers to the hilt with stellar results. Just shook my head over all the other people blaming that gear for crashes in the past.

My intention was to get some funny comments. This is why I listed it on the funny forum.

But then again... I get a flack... But I think it was MY fault listing the whole bunch of reasons.
....

No it wasn't your fault. People know what your intention was. It's just that so many people on the rc forums must take the technical challenge thing to all levels. Trust me, I known this from posting scratch build threads for years. They're like putting a "kick me" sign on your back. The experts find the threads and use them as a stage to walk up on, and show off their expertise, finding anything possible to critique.
