What are normal Dbm readings for transmitter.

I did a range test ( the log file shown in file).

As seen it shows during range test -70dbm and after it -68 dbm. A bit later it drops to -50dbm.

Does anyone know what are these values supposed to be when they are goos. I'm asking because I lost one plane today due to Tx/Rx failure.

The important thing is how many frames were successfully decoded (out of a 100)
Check the rc jets forum here. There are two great threads on weatronics, including samples log files.

Thanks for the info. Then it looks like the loss of the plane was due to engine shutdown and steep stall after that.

I do clearly remember transmitter flashing the error led. Yet nothing is shown on the log file. I suppose it has then been just some other warning than link failure.

Anyway, since nothing abnormal is shown on the log file it must have been a "user error" of somekind.

Luckily it was not an expensive plane and only the airframe was destroyed.

sorry for your loss.
Post the log file here. we can then take a look and advise.
For example, there are status code logged every second. If there are any issues with the radio link, it should show up.

Here is a screenshot from the logfile. I do not know how to upload .NAV files.

To post the NAV file, first change its extension from NAV to one of the allowed formats, for example JPG. We can then download and put the extension back to NAV.

Sorry I was unable to load the log file. Keep getting an error, like the file was corrupted.

I can tell you that the screen image you posted looked suspicious. Seems like the good frames (Rx Frames) were going down.

It is the frames that are staying near 100 all the time, The dbm is dropping very fast. But did read that is hte frames that counts, not the dbm.

Lets try this link for the file

Received your file. The error I was getting was that this log file was for Version 2.51, which I had not installed. I just did and was able to load the file ok.
Note that the log file shows your receiver as a Micro 8 with version 2.33. (I beleive it works ok, but you may want to update it as well).

The log shows all RF operations OK, until all communications are lost. There was no fail safe, low battery or loss of good frames prior to the break in communications. Your signal strength RSSI due show trending lower and lower, so I assume the plane was getting far from you. I compared with other planes i have and your signal strength (RSSI in Dbm) was much lower than mine at the lowest. However your good frames were almost perfect, so control was not lost.

Did you went behind some terrain that will block line of sight? Seems as if you went very far and then then went behind some obstacle that caused the signal to go from almost perfect to non-existent.

If you were not flying far, I guess it could also be a catastrophic receiver failure.

Sorry for your loss.

I will post this file in a Weatronic thread in the RC Jets forum, so others can evaluate it.

Your file posted in weatronics thread in jet forum

One of the foremost expert (Oli) already indicated all good. Seems your crash has nothing to do with the weatronic.

Thanks very much for your help.

I think that it was just a too lean mixture and it died on me when I was starting to go up. The plane was not far away, only 100m.

The log files seems to be very handy excluding radio error when a crash happens.

Today I took the previously crashed plane to it's maiden flight. The flight went ok, But the log file looks scary to my I eyes. Could someone check the log file comment on it.

First is best to plot servo 5 (Brakes, starts on +930 s approximately and ends at 1660 approx,) so you'll see the time of the flight.

For me it looks like that first receiver has died for most of the flight. and the reveir had lost half of the frames for most of the flight. Now there was one big plane that took of after me and landed just before me. i don't know if that could do something.

You can see that your Rx1 frames were very high and the dropped to 0. However this happened at the same time that your Tx frames dropped to from ~95 to 50.
Later your Tx frames when up back to 98, and at that same time, your Rx1 frames came back from 0 to 100.

I don't think your Rx1 frames really went to 0 at all. It seems to me your transmitter module did not receive the information from the receiver and that why it was showing 0, when in reality Rx1 was always very good (90-100).

Weatronic transmits a weaker signal from the receiver to the Tx, because it only uses one antenna for that. Typically this will happen to me for a few seconds. Yours lasted too long. Maybe antenna #1 is being blocked? Try changing its position.
I doubt your plane was at risk.

If you want more opinions, you should post in the other thread that I mentioned in my previous response. There are some good experts there.
Good luck

Ok,

Now I can tell you that there is someting VERY wrong with weatronic system. today I crashed another plane. Just like the previous corsair that I would have declared it as WEA failure (as I did see the error light in the transmitter). That time I did not see anything wrong in the log file as there nothing on it his time.

But,t his time I know it to be a WEA failure since the engine did not quit (as it should have been on failsafe). I had time the switch off/on the transmitter before the crash. Before the shutdown the logfile showed everything is OK ( and it was NOT). and in the next log file it gets nothing from receiver. The receiver log file is showing that for the whole flight RX2 has been offline but has been working well anyway. After failure, the receiver is still looking the same but the transmitter is not getting any signal.

So my understanding is that the transmitter has failed and for some reason it is not shown on the log file.

I would like to use WEA again on bigger planes 'cause it is very handy. But it will be after few years until I've tested it on a cheaper plane. This crash cost me 12 000€., the previuos one was only few houdred €.
