I'm just about to order the paint for my AW MB339 and am still undecided on which turbine to install. I have a P160SX and a P200SX.

The Horizon Hobby synchro guys flew their's with P200s but the likes of Tommy Gleissner and Luca di Marchi use 160s.

Who has owned/flown one? What would you recommend?

Status: offline 		If you want to keep it light, go for the Behotec 180GE. Same weight as the 160 but more powerful and super reliable.
If you can wait a bit, then you'll get an even more powerful version of this engine.

Just to make things clear, although the AW MB339 is coming from the Italian plugs, the GDS and AW planes are different.
The AW MB has the center section in one piece and two outer wing panels. The GDS has two full wings.
The moulding technique is also consequently different.
I know that the early AW version had failures of the outer wing panels. But this should be sorted out by now.
The gear on the early AW was also wrongly sprung, making the plane bounce and difficult to land.

Yep. Different construction to GDS. I had a good chat with Angelo and Gianluca at JetPower. I can see their M346 in my sights soon. Or maybe the G91

I'd like to think that Airworld have those issues sorted by now as my kit was only ordered 7 months ago.

I know a 180 is probably spot on but I already have a 160 and 200. I'd rather not buy another turbine when both of these will power it. I just need to decide which will be best suited.

They certainly have sorted these issues out since Thoma's MB339 finished 4th at the JWM.


If you have both engines, go for the 200. That will give more inertia to the 339 and it will look better in flight ( not kite ish ).
You can also ballast it with bigger fuel/smoke tanks...

Status: offline 		Glad they're sorted now and, yes, the 200 has always been the preferred option and I had no intention of trying to get under 20kg. My Skygate Hawk was much better when I added 5kg in parts etc.

I'm also trying to get hold of GDS's 7L main and 2L conformal smoke tanks!

Looking forward to this one
