So i have been wanting to try a rock crawler for a while now. Havent been able to justify paying a lot of money for one since my wife and i just had a son today. Now for my question. I have an opportunity to do some trading for an exceed maxstone 8. I am wondering if anyone has owned one of these and could tell me if any parts frm other vehicles are interchangeable? I know exceed is not considered a great brand but i do not have much money at all in the car that thinking about trading. I guess i am just looking to hear whether or not this crawler is complete junk or if it is decent or can be made decent without many changes. Thanks for any information you can give.

Please don't make that mistake. If you want something cheap, get a Venom creeper.

Sure thing. That thought crossed my mind when I saw it, but I thought "no, what are the odds of it being the same people?".

I know exceed isnt a great brand but like i said was just looking for a crawler to trade for. I have been reading about them ever since i talked about trading and havent heard anything good. He told me he was waiting on gears to come in and said they just happened to strip but yes that it was a good crawler. I should have known better since he has it listed on craigslist for 150 and new they are like 195. I only have 40 in the rs4 that i was thinking of trading him and im not really into on road cars but i think ill let it sit and look pretty on my shelf and know that it is a decent car rather than throw a crappy crawler in the trash.

Since i have already started this thread i might as well ask you guys what about the redcat rockslide rs10? If its decent enough to start with would it be better to get the 1/8 scale version. Thanks

As I said before, if you want something cheap but still decent quality, get a venom creeper. Get something too cheap and it'll be constantly be breaking on you and sour your crawler experience.

Exceed, redcat and himoto are all sibling companies selling HSP products.

So i emailed the guy and told him that i wasnt going to trade and gave him a link to the forum about his crawler. He denied ever being on a forum and put my character in question. Haha i just love dealing with people like that

how could you ever think that was him basically calling the rock crawler a piece of junk. Its only coincidence he's waiting for the rear gear, and was trading the crawler for a RS4 nitro like you were

Its all coincidence

the venom creeper, redcat rs10 or a used axial ax10(can be found RTR for $150 if you look hard)
thats the best options for lower priced crawlers.

I'm all about buying used now, and I recommend looking for a used axial if you can afford to do so. There are many people out there that buy a crawler, try it out out and quickly find its not their cup of tea and just want rid of it so they can get back to what they really like. If your patient, You can find a lot of used trucks that have almost no run time on them with tons of hop up parts for less than half the price they have into them, I know, I just bought another one. There my .02.....keep the change

Well, T9... I credit you for allowing me to see the light in considering used R/Cs as an option and now I'm hooked on buying used.
