Yep, just as per plan.

20 years later with today's cheap technology and my improved paypacket I'd ditch the concentric torque tube and rod arrangement and run 4 digital servos in the wing.....

With reference to JB Weld, I am pretty sure that the traditional grey PoxiPol is pretty much the same thing. It sets in 24 hours and is rock hard.

Status: offline 		No doubt that sort of thing is "continental branding". I wouldn't be surprised if there is a Latin American version of the same thing. Then again, stores like Home Depo have gone international so it's quite possible that you might find JB Weld at a place like that in BA. I was in Mexico a couple of weeks ago but didn't think of checking whether the Home Depo had it there.

My proposal to mount the spoilers on the brass tube.
For me only double security is safe to use so maybe you also like my method!

Materials are:
Glas reinforced epoxy plate for printed circuits
In case of not available you can make a ""cloon"; plywood with thin sheet metal glued on it with two component glue, so for exampe of a steel mouse can (NO ALUMINUM).
Drill small holes in the sheet metal to enlarge the binding of the two component epoxiy glue.
The cupper wire I use is from a communication cable, after removing all isolation I only use the massive core.
Solder and 2 component epoxy glue.

Mounting
Depending of dimensions you can mount the plate as shown in method 1 or 2.
Drill the small holes in the plate on right locations see drawing.
Use some thin aluminum (heat shield) to protect the wing while soldering.
Keep the plate in right location and angle and solder on the brass tube with two dots of solder.
After that, wind the cupper wire around the brass tube and through the holes.
If location and angle is alright, solder all feedthrough points of the wire if possible on both sides and also the wire on the brass tube on a lot locations.
Remove the cupper layer that wasn't needed to solder the ware to create the location to glue the spoilers. Make grooves on the surfaces of the epoxy plate to enlarge the binding of the two component gue.
Build up the spoiler as visible in the drawing for example top of birche plywood and bottom of balsa.
Carve, shape and sand the spoilers.

I´m planning to weld two pieces of brass strip (with holes in it like hinges) on the spoiler torque tube in order to get more glueing surface. What do you think? Does the weld will be affected by engine vibrations?

good to see you at it again. I think your flap/spoiler rig will work. The welding of the hinges is where the idea of JB Weld came into play. For whatever reason, that stuff will hold two parts together almost indestructibly. It is also less susceptible to vibration as it is an iron laced epoxy. Provided the surfaces are roughed up, you can "weld" them together and they will stay like that forever. It is also great stuff for welding copper couplers on to CF or steel pushrods. Much better than welding if you ask me.

For future reference and use if it comes in handy.

Are the wing controls all that's left to build?

Yes, I´m back.

I traveled to USA some month ago and bought JB Weld (the equivalent of Poxypol here inArgentina, thank you Kenneth!), so this way I´ll finish the spoiler-flaps.

Then I needto work on the rest of flight controls and after a lot of sanding I´ll start the finishing process.

Now that you have JB Weld, it would be interesting to see whetheror not it is nearly the same as traditional argentine grey PoxiPol as I suspect.

Maybe you can carry out some pseudo scientific tests to see how similar or not the two products are.

On the subject of sanding, the more the better. I see my sanding blocks not only as contouring and finishing tools but as lightening tools too, specially with the amount of wood used in traditional structures of the period.

Right now I don´t have Poxipol! I´ll see if I buy one near home.

I´m thinking to do the same finishing process than the Tiporare, but I´m not sure if I´ll paint or monokote the fuse… that´s the question.

If you remember I had some discolorations problems in it.

If I may make a suggestion, make sure you use a sealer primer as a first coat after glassing. I'd stay away from dopes and use finishing resin, epoxy preferably. Then, once the fuse is fully primed and sanded back with a filler primer, use another thin coat of sealer primer; preferably one that is designed for the paint you'll use. If you prep the fuse like this, you shouldn't have any paint problems.

I'd also recommend that you paint with auto lacquer rather than urethane or enamel. Stay away from the latter in particular. The lacquer should make for a faster lighter paint job. Key, of course, after wet sanding your paint job, is the clear. Use good stuff - PPG or DuPont acrylic urethane. Or, as discussed previously, SprayMax 2K.

Status: offline 		I have made both Curare and Sicroly with the original spoiler/flap set up and the simplest way of making the spoiler tube was not to try and butt solder the tags on the tube (It will fail rapidly from vibration) but to make the flag longer and wrap it around the tube and then solder the two tags together, and solder all round the tube, for an indestructable horn. Then drill the holes in the tags to help gluing the tube to the flap. Been flying both models for 6 years now, with no sign of failure.

Status: offline 		Not helping here but Singapore Hobby has the flap / aileron device. Was swayed against it because I thought we'd probably go with separate servos for the ailerons.

But, this is really some nice custom work!
