Checked my wheel postilion and all looks good.
Just another question 4 U.
With the pitot tube in the outer wing. Did U fix use permanently or do U just push it in before flying. Looks like could be a real nightmare for carting around.

Status: offline 		No, I just push it in. I didn't really understand the instructions about fastening the pitot tube to the wing. It seems like an unnecesary complication. Anyway, I have had no problems and the wings still perfectly line up after about 30 flights. I haven't really performed radical manouveres, but have done quite a few loops, high-H turns and stall turns. Stall turns are surprisingly difficult and it is easy to drop a wing.

Four flights on the weekend with the first three going well. It was a bit gusty on the fourth and it ballooned a bit and I nosed it over. The roll bar saved the pilots again, but I'll have to reglue it back in place. One of the undercarraige wires bent back and I'll bend it forward again. It would be really handy to have more than one flap setting (I have a Dx6i which just has the one down setting). Too much flap (or too much wind) and it really balloons. I think about 10 degrees for take off, and landing in wind would be good. About 25 - 30 degrees for landing in calm conditions. 

The plane really sounds good with the ASP 120 four-stroke, particularly coming in from a high dive. Rock steady and looks impressive as it gets bigger and bigger.

Status: offline 		This plane has yet to hit the US market. I'm interested in it but do have one reservation issue regarding its ease of hauling, handling and setup.

As a comparison, Seagull's AT-6 120 is a low wing plane with gear struts into the wing but it has a center section of wing that allows keeping it bolted in place and on its feet for storage, hauling and setup. The outer wing sections are bolted on with the plane on its feet so there is no need to turn over to store, haul or setup. It does need cradled to mount the center wing section or get inside but a cradle is not needed at the field or to haul the plane. The penalty for such an installation is there are no flaps.

Larger planes that require inverted setup and a support cradle to haul and setup are more troublesome than planes that stay on their feet for hauling and setup. Has this been much issue?

Status: offline 		The wings are bolted onto the underside of the plane and it must be inverted to fit them. The job is pretty quick, certainly less than 5 minutes from unloading from the car to fully assembled and ready for fueling. The wings are fastened by hand by screw-in nylon bolts. There is a separate underside piece which slots in and uses 2 allen-key screws to hold it in place.

This is the first plane I have had where I have to remember to also transport a support cradle to get it upside down. The tail, roll bar, pilots, windscreens etc  protrude too much just to lie it on the ground. Fastening the connectors and wing retaining nylon bolts whilst standing the plane on its nose would be too awkward. I use a foam fruit box as a support cradle.

Setting aside the need for a support cradle, I love the quickness and ease of setting this plane up at the field. As I said above, 5 minutes and it is ready to go.

Status: offline 		Just a quick question about the flaps, can you tell me if you needed to get a reversing lead for one of the servos? only when I start to put mine together I don't want to get so far and find That I need to order a lead befor I can continue....

U don't need a servo reverse just a Y lead unless U have spare channels.
The Flap servos go in same direction each wing so they just work on the Y-lead. I also use a Y-lead for Ailerons and I did not program flaperons. That way I can use the 3 position switch on the flaps and I think it was aux 1 on RX and I am using 2 channels for the 2 Elevator and the gear channel will have my opto kill for the petrol motor.

Status: offline 		As noted by Greg. Normal servewrs/leads are fine for the flaps. The instructions are reasonable to make sure you mount the severs correctly, and don't have to fiddle around getting them the right way.

Having 3 or more flap positions available on your Tx would be good. About 30 degrees flap is fine for landing in calm conditions. About half of this is good when landing into a headwind (or for take-offs in calm conditions). Too much flap landing into the wind and the plane tends to balloon and flop.

Status: offline 		I had 3 good flights on Sunday (each flight about 10 minutes using a total of 750ml fuel on my ASP 4-stroke 120). My fuel tank holds 500ml.

I've settled on about 20 degrees flap which slows the plane nicely, but can still result in a bouncy landing if you let the plane slow too much. I had one perfect landing when the breeze picked up so perhaps I still need to come in a little faster or move the CoG back a fraction. The landings seem a little easier when I've run the fuel down. Nevertheless, my bounces on the previous two landings were very modest and there was no bending of the undercarraige wire.

The wire on which the tail wheel assembly mounts bends back on tail heavy landings, but actually seems to work better at close to a 45 degree angle (which is where mine is at present). You can certainly see the action of the spring much better during ground handling at this angle and it looks impressive.

She is on hold at present. Ready to have the engine and batteries.
I had my Tiger 60 go in the drink and lost the lot so had to replace it 1st.
Finally got everything for it and maidened it a couple of weeks ago. Was pretty nervous about the 1st flight.
Also picked up a FMS T28 Trojan from ebay and pick up from Xtreme. Got for $241 and they sell in the same shop $370 so was a pretty good saving.
I am saving for the motor at present but am still leaning towards a DLE20.
The other guy at the club who bought his the week before mine has not started yet at all. Been so busy this year. He is now thinking of putting a ASP120FS in it.
Told him yours fly's well with a 120FS engine.

I hope to have mine finished by November as I am on holidays then and would be good to pick some nice days to fly her.
Our field has a constant breeze most of the time so good for take offs and landings till it goes to gail force or blows cross the strip but has been good flying in these conditions.

Glad U are enjoying flying yours I am looking forward to seeing the 2 at our club up at the same time.

I too am interested in fitting a DLE 20 to one of these planes. Can you tell me if the cowl is large enough to accomodate the DLE 20 without having to hack too much away, and if a Pitts stlye muffler would fit. I haven't ordered the plane yet, but it is on the list. Thanks.

I printed out the diagram of the engine then photocopied to the correct size. then stuck sides and top together to get an Idea of size. Looks like it will fit OK. May need to cut a bit out of the bottom of the cowl for the plug and lead. I am buying a baffled Pitts with it.

Friend is going to buy the same motor for a different project so we are going to order at the same time. So probably end of June I should have it.

Going to get them from http://www.wolfmodels.net/DLE-20.html as the cheapest I have seen and he runs the motor before sending and U get a opto ignition kill switch and spinner nut included.
Also hear is the muffler http://www.wolfmodels.net/Canisters.html cheap as well.

We are only about an hour or so away so we are going out to pick the stuff up.

I may reinforce part of the cowl where I have to cut with some more glass cloth as it looks fairly thin.

I bought my metal gear servos from there as well. I am using the same servos for Rudder in other plane and they seem good. Bit noisy but they are metal gears. Opened one up and they seem to have enough electro grease in the gears.

Status: offline 		I picked up one of these, just because it reminded me of my old COX hobbies .049 Control line plane from when I was a kid. I love the looks of it, bit I'm considering stripping her and doing it up in the later war silver paint scheme.

Interested to see in the different colour. Also reminds me of the cox model long ago.

I have my motor and have just made a 25mm PVC pipe stand to sit it in and transport it as well.

Just been trying to work out where I am going to put stuff.
Looking at where the electronic ignition box is going to fit then where will I put the tank and the batteries (all 3) and the RX.

Using 2 1.4 MAh Life04 batteries for RX and a 2500mna 4cell for the ignition. still need a couple of switches cause iI pilfered one to get another plane going.

Been debating about the muffler as is going to stick out side of cowl or to have it cut and re-welded so it will fit.

hope to get some work done in the next couple of weeks as I am on holidays after next week for a month.

Will post some pics once I get some things sorted and decide where I am installing stuff.

Hope you post some pics when you strip it so can see what she looks like naked lol.

Bought a DX18 a couple of months ago. Makes flaps great. Can slow them right down when deploying and also slows down the elevator correction so they both happen same time. Use 3 position switch on my tiger 60 . been looking at flight modes which seem to have a world of programming options. Really like the DX18. Very easy to program its just learning what you can do and what you need to do to get there.

I too had one of these from Cox when I was a kid. I flew the heck out of it..must have put gallons of fuel thru that little .049. Wish I still had it as it's probably worth a fortune.
I now have a Dynaflight PT-19 and one NIB waiting to be built.
They're great flyers,very stable and look great in the air.
Thanks for reminding me how much fun I had with mine as a kid.
