Yeah the worst part is going in to say hi on the way home from work and spending $$$$$$$$. Just came back from running the R/C trucks with his helper, stopped by the store on the way home and spent $50 and found more stuff I want.

    No, mine is 4 & 3/16"

I didn't really plan it, just bolted the motor in the mount where it looked good and that's where it wound up.

As far as weight goes, anything under 6 pounds with standard servo's just doesn't seem possible. FWIW, a guy at my field has a Kysoho Cap. That cap is definately in the 5 - 5.5 pound range. I picked it up and it is lighter by a significant amount. He runs an OS .46Fx with the stock muffler and a 12*4 and it is about as well powered as mine is with the pipe, maybe a little better. My motor will turn the same prop 1,500 - 2,000 faster or the same pitch but 1 inch larger at the same RPM.

JeffC and I have now flown the Phoenix Giles and Sukhoi.. both with OS 50s. The 50 seems to be a perfect match.

Take-offs are less than 40', tracking is great - both on the ground and in the air, roll and loops are straight, and landing is easy with a touch of throttle. Note: These planes won't stall into a landing like profile fun flies... they're not supposed to. Use some speed on the first leg of the landing approach and keep on the throttle (like any Extra, Cap, Giles, Sukhoi, etc).

The flat spins are fine - both inverted and regular, inverted is no problem (did a 6' limbo inverted without any funny characteristics), and knife edges are a breeze.

What a great bargain at $74.

    Yours,
    Juhan

Fatboy, the scale I used was probably off.....but I definitely don't think it's more than 6lbs.........I'll have to try to get it on another scale......
I'm sure that there could be some weight differences in manufacturing, but you're right, not 12 oz.

I just got mine finished . With standard radio equipment and an OS .46fx with no wheel pants it weighed 6lbs 5oz .
Just about what i expected . It is a little heavier than what i like but it is built well and is not expected to be a 3D plane so it should fly great .

I'm getting close to finishing my Sukhoi too. So far, with only battery pack, receiver, switch gear. fuel tubing, and wheel pants left to go on, it's right at 5 lbs 8 Oz. I should manage 6 lbs RTF easily (without wheel pants, since I fly off grass). This is with a Tower 46, stock pushrods for rudder and elevator, cheapo Tower TS53 servo on throttle and 4 Futaba 3001's. I'm weighing it with a heavy-ish 11x5 APC prop, too.

Balances right on the money too (110mm), so far. This means I can shift the battery pack around to fine-tune CG to my liking. Super!

I'm guessing that the Mag 52 fourstroke will be a little underpowered. I think the Mag 52XLS would be better suited for the plane considering most everyones is weighting 6 pounds or more.

If you want a Magnum 4stroke, you'd be better off with the 61FS, which weighs the same as the 52FS. Still though, I think the new Magnum XLS 52 2stroke would give you much better bang for the buck.

Check the other Su31 or G202 thread. I think this info is there.
OS61 seeme to be the heaviest successfully fitted, the Saito is similar mass I think.

Mine will be flight ready mid week. I'll have reports ASAP. I mounted the Saito 72, and I all but trimmed/cut up the plane to get it under 6 lbs. Minus pants and installing light weight gear it still 6.1 lbs. I'm totally baffled at how some of you have this bird under 6 lbs.
