I am about half done with building my new Sukhoi; it's been a pleasant surprise. The cowl and wheel pants are well done, but the stock wheels really sucked; mine were almost oval!
I have decided to go with an O.S. .46 as I do not need unlimited vertical, it is my first truely acrobatic plane so I can't go too nuts until I get some more stick time on manuevers.
Has anyone done flat spins with this plane? How about tumbles (Lomcevaks)? Will the Giles be essentially the same as far as abilities? I would appreciate any responses...Dale

I have done inverted flat spins and beautiful power off blenders and lomcevaks but upright flat spins aren't all that flat yet. Maybe if i move the cg back a little .
My high rates are all i can get and my low rates are close to the manual .
    Not a 3D plane but a great flier .

Got more flying in yesterday before rain hit our area. Had almost zero wind again and the engine is running better and better each day (must be breaking in!) Still impressed with how well it flies with the .47 GMS. 11x6 wooden prop and it moves out very well. Does some really nice hammerheads with spins thrown in. Smooth as silk an goes right where you point it. Can't beat the deal on these planes. Very well built so I don't worry about throwing it around in the air... actually having more fun with this $77 plane than the $170 funtana I have... out of the box I worry about some of the Funtana's structures when thrown really hard in the air.

My Sukhio finished up weighing right at 6lbs RTF, which was my goal so I'm happy with it. I wasn't trying very hard to save weight, either. I used generous amounts of epoxy on the wing joint, which I also glassed with strips of 2 Oz. cloth. I also epoxy-coated the firewall and muffler area.

From what I'm reading, mine should do just fine with the Tower .46 and APC 11x5. I saw another one fly with a TT Pro 61 this past weekend, and I wasn't too impressed. Lands hotter than I would like presonally. On the plus side, I saw no tip stalling or snapping tendencies, though.

This is interesting. I can't seem to find any Phoenix Models on the Tower Website anymore.

Just put my Kyosho graphics on the Sukhio. Looks great. Tower sells the graphics separate. Sure dresses it up.

I also got the Kyosho graphic sheet. I haven't put the plane together yet. I suppose I will do it over the winter. I agree though that the Brietling graphics look great.
