roadstar01 or nitro-rob- When you put the MAMBA Pro ESC in did you do anything special? Do you need to just plug it in and go? Also wanted to know if you have a good part number for that ESC. Have you had any problems with running 3S battery in it after switching out the ESC? Do you need to change out the motor? I am new at this so sorry for all the questions.

The C rating is 40C on both by 3S lipo's

I have heard that the HPI branded ESC's are way behind on Castles software updates, Like no troque control etc. Maybe the older software is the problem.

I didn't realize that the HPI software was limited until I got their version of the mamba monster recently. If they are behind on software updates thats just bad since we all know how important they are and how they affect things.

Somebody should come up with a hack for this. I'd pay for it. If they can unlock an iphone they can unlock a castle ESC.

If people are blowing them quickly before they should be getting up to temperature then its pretty serious.  I could understand people putting 3s on it and driving the snot out of it for a few packs in a row and it smoking, but a few minutes....

I didn't install my mamba max pro yet but it should just plug in and go.

After working on it for a few hours i found that the servo is fine and it is centered but the steering horn is too short or something to reach the center alignment so it trims to the left.

The mamba max pro will plug in. the only thing you will have to do is solder on a battery connector. Ran 3 cells with no problems. CSEMMBMAXPRO is the part #.

Add me to the list of people with burned up esc's.  After about 2 minutes on the 3rd run my esc went up in smoke.  I was running a 2s Turnigy 5000 mah 40-50C battery.   I'm thinking a bad batch of esc's went out in the first batch of savage's.

Manage to do a quick fix by unscrewing it to get length necessary to get as close to the center of the servo. See below:

Seems like whoever built my xs put in a piece smaller that it should be :S
Anyone know part # for the longer piece of it?

You could get a piece of threaded rod at the LHS.

anyone find their xs to veer towards the direction on speed runs?
if i do a left turn before speed run it would veer to the left and if i take a right turn it would veer to the right during the speed run. cant seem to go straight even when my servo is aligned

thinking of getting more ESC, so I don't need to wait long time for mailing sending back and forth and still can play
What do you guys think? maybe get 3 or 4 pieces of that ESC to be on the safe side?!

that sucks that the esc on these is crap but rather then stocking up on crap why don't you look at getting an ESC that works like it should, people have mentioned trying the mumba max pro but you might need to add a deans connector. It can't be much fun using your truck wondering when it is due to die next. or you could just take your XS to a disco and use it as a smoke machine.

I seriously wonder what the issue is with the ESC's. I have been running mine on 2s and very limited on 3s and have had no issues.

In all honesty, I'd have to consider looking elsewhere for the problem, if you've gone through two new escs with exactly the same issue. Just a suggestion. If I were HPI, I would ask you to send the whole car and your batteries in if you killed 2 escs like that.

I'm not saying it's your problem, or your fault, just to consider the possibility.

I was going to send all the electronic related stuff to HPI just to make sure, but they told me only send them the ESC, nothing else.
Sounds like they very sure is the ESC problem
the battery I was using is Silverback 2s 5200mh 40c and 5600 50C. they are new and I pretty sure they are good, also the motor is running ok
then I asked what happen to mine last time, they didn't say anything
