Distributed out of Japan, manufactured in China, I'm guessing he has a friend in the Orient or ordered it from there. I imagine the distribution plan that HPI USA uses is to get all 100 containers worth into the states first, then truck them out (as opposed to flying them over in smaller qualntities). It takes a boatload of 100 plus cargo containers a VERY long time to get from China to the states (like weeks).

Just guessing...

Two questions for dcfever:

1. Does it come with a wheelie bar like the full size Flux?

2. Does it drive like a full size Flux? (Tippy and lots of wheelies.)

Do you have anymore pics?

it is now at the shop for checking, only can get more pics later

They said need one month to send back to the factory to check

I think I should just contact hpi directly myself?!

Yes! Get it back and handle it yourself. But you should get help from them to identify which part is faulty. If it is just the ESC, HPI will let you just return that part (saving delivery costs) and should replace it for you immediately. Also, we are all curious what is the problem, motor or ESC.

The thing I am not happy about this is the shop didn't even bother to try out for me what is the problem. I have no idea is the ESC or motor problem. ESC no beep sound, motor not turn, could be both my guess

I ordered this at July from my LHS, and waited until last week to pick up. The shop received around I guess 20pcs and still have few pieces left now but they increased the price

I would go back and get your Savage. I had issues with the ESC in my Savage Flux HP, I contacted HPI and they gave me a number and told me to send it back in. It took about a week for them to send it back to.

can you please let me know if you had similar problem as mine ??

Two answers for Rcforme

1. no wheelie bar, it is an option part says on the manual. I remember i saw somewhere says included, but it's not.
2. I never owned full size Flux. but this car wheelies all the time on 2S, can do alot flipping, 3S almost out of control

The car is really awesome. size is perfect, fast and stable

My esc was completely dead with just the red light "lighting up" there were no beeps of anything else.

Call HPI and tell them the issues you are having and see what they can do for you. HPI customer sevice is some of the best in the RC industry.

What "C" rating is the battery you are using?

What was the "MAH"?

I think he said that it doesn't come with another pinion and that the manual says it can reach 65+ using a 3s lipo and 34t pinion.

He said it does not come with any option pinions. On an earlier post he stated the stock gearing was 28/56. He then said the manual says with a 34t pinion on 3s=65mph.

If what you are getting at is "Will it do the claimed 65mph out of the box?" The answer is no.

With some quick guesswork on the final drive and tire diameter, we can make some other calulations given that we know the max rpm of the motor is 44400@11.1v, and that the pinion/spur are 34/56 for 65 mph. If we deduce the final drive ratio with 100mm tires to be about 5:1 (63.2mph), then we can say that the top speed on the stock gearing must be around 52mph.

Ok thanks for the clarification on that , I just ordered a 34t 48p for it when it comes , 50+ is fast enough for this little guy.

Six extra teeth on the pinion isn't a minor gearing change, I assume there will be temperature issues for hard running with that setup.  I find anything over 50 a waste anyways.  Off road stuff isn't made to go that fast and if you set it up for speed its useless below 50mph.

If it's listed in hpi's manual then it's cool , if anything happens due to overheating it's warrantied , not a big deal , I am not worried at all , been doing this for years now. If everything is setup properly then it's fine to go over 50 on the savage xs. If you choose to stay below that well that's your choice , I personally like to have the option to go fast. Prob. Change my tires up and suspension and I'll be good. Plus this one's just a toy/basher for me that I will beat the he'll out of. I have my mugen buggys for racing and speed runs.oh and whoever said off road stuff isn't made to go over 50 lol , where have you been man , I had my full size savage flux way over 50 with no problems at all plus many other off road vehicles. More speed always equals more fun for me , there's tons of people out there running off road vehicles over 50 , and they are made for it or else they wouldn't be throwing bullet proof metal tranny's in all these off road's coming out.

Just stating a preference.  I set up a truck to go over 50mph and spend 2% of my time at that speed.  I run mine slower and keep the temps down for most driving and gear up occasionally for fun when I get the radar gun out.  40 top speed is too slow.  I also have more control at lower speeds gearing down by taking 15-20mph out of the wheelspin I've been getting which makes a difference hooking up at 30 mph.

Personally I'm a freestyle guy. I like my trucks fast but highly controllable. I'm completely anal about getting the diffs and suspension setup right. I have very few people to actually run with, so I need to wow random crowds with tricks to justify the money I'm spending. lol.

When it's a sheer display of power and speed I need, the 6s mugen truggy should suffice. Test run this weekend

I actually cancelled my preorder for the little Savage, but I'll get one soon enough. I need another drifter first, cos the GF wants my cup racer lol.

I don't agree with you, I gear my offroads for 50mph which seems to be the sweet spot and keeps the temps down. Oh and I have well over 20 years in this hobby.

Agree to disagree...personal preference exactly. , I just like to have a high top end for when I need it , I personally don't have much fun going 40mph or below , some people do. 50mph is fine by me and prob perfect for something this small. I have vehicles for very high top speeds and then vehicles with lower for when the race track demands it. I'm not running a savage xs at a race track nor would there be a class for it. So I'd like to at least be able to drive fast when I'm bashing and I have friends that like to race also , so a higher top end works for me. Plus gearing up on these would prob make them more controllable anyway since it's big brother is a flipping machine and they advertise this one in the videos doing standing backflips. So if you really want to be able to control gearing up on the pinion should be a good thing bc you won't have that crazy torque sending this lil guy flying all over.

Good points my friend, Don't get me wrong I like fast too but find these days I gear according to temps. Maybe when I get the xs I will gear my storm for 75 and see how that feels....
