Removed the Batteries, did NOT have to take case apart. I guess new model has the connector right there when you open the compartment up. Bought 8 Energizer 1850 Mah NiMh from Sam's, I think $14.00-$18.00 with wall charger. Threw away the charger, (just kidding) bought an 8 cell battery holder from Radio Shack $2.49 I think, and a 5-pack of 9v style battery clips for $1.99. Used thes because the RS Cell holder has 9-volt style terminals on it, much like a square 9-volt battery. Only needed one. I cut the Hitec connector off of the old Hitec Pack, spliced it onto the 9-volt style clip, clipped the cap onto the Radio Shack pack with the new Energizers in it, removed a little foam block in the battery compartment of the transmitter. It is sticky taped in, to cushion the old pack which was shorter. The fit with the new 1850 Mah Pack, and the "cushioning" effect of the padded 9-volt cap, makes a PERFECT fit! For $20.00 bucks or so! I am charging it right now with the standard Hitec Wall Charger, plus the battery pack will unplug easily with the 9-volt style cap to faciltate cycling. I will take another 9-volt style cap, remember 5 for $1.99, and make a plug/adapter for my cycler...
