I've been flying a 2m rudder and elevator sailplane (Dynaflite Daydream) for a while, but it's getting troublesome finding somewhere to setup the highstart without either disrupting other pilots at our field, or working with another field. I've been wanting to try a Discus Launch sailplane for a while, and I figure this might solve my problems with field setups and required equipment. 

I don't have any idea as to how they work, or launching techniques, but I figure I can learn all this along the way. The model I am looking at is a small laser cut kit called the Quick Flick 2, by Mountain Models.

There is also one called the DL50, with foamcore wings.

Has anyone experience with either of these models? If so, which would be preferable to someone without experience in this specific field? Are there any other DLG's that would be even better? I am not looking for a super high performance model, but something that I can throw in the car and learn DLG techniques with.

The Quick Flick is also available to build from http://www.pldaniels.com/flying/models/qfii/manual/ free plans.
A similar good scratch build performer is the http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=840763 Mimi - either solid balsa wing or built up.
The Gambler is also a good kit built up wing model, but unavailable due to boom supply problems at the moment.
For ARF glass models, see the Topsky1 or Topsky Mini.

Status: offline 		Thanks for the links - I didn't realise that the plans for the QFII were available for free! I've decided that this is the model I am going to build. What kind of skills are needed in launching a DLG?
