Stayed with the standard servos Futaba S3004.
HobbyWing Platinum-60A Brushless ESC
Tacon Big Foot 46 Brushless Out Runner Motor (670KV)
3 blade MA 12x8 prop, waiting for a 12x8 Neodym
Zippy 4s 5000mah 20c

Plane flies very well, motor gets just slightly warm, ESC stays cool. I am using the built in BEC and seems to be fine. I tried this set up with a Rhino 5s 4900 20c with 13x6,12x8, and 12x10 props, seems to be a little heavy and starts to torque a little on take off.

I will get some pics posted.

Status: offline 		Just to let you know I have flown this with the Tacon .46 but have the Great Planes 42-60-800 on it now (Rimfire .46) . It flies fine with the Tacon but is now getting over 7lbs of static thrust with a MA 12x8 3 blade pulling 66 amps WOT. The way the motor is mounted in the pic is almost perfect for firewall spacing using the nylon spacers. I used the GP mount just because I had it and it did not fit my Hobby King motor. The motor I found @ Hobby King is cheap but the set up getting the three blade prop, spinner, costs a little.

Status: offline 		Thank you for the pics. It looks like you have the battery over the CG, right? I'm guessing you used 2 1" nylon spacers also. How far is the spinner backplate from the front of the cowl? Pretty simple conversion. I wonder why GP didn't make it an option.

Status: offline 		It was pretty easy, they should have offered an electric conversion. Yes those are just 1"nylon spacers from the hardware store. I have them on a couple of planes now. The battery ends up in front of the cg, I will need to double check it after it's 100% finished. The spinner is about 3/32" from the cowl. I will have it out tomorrow and then have everything set. One thing though it's very tight on a large 6s lipo, not to mention it flies much better on a diet.

I'll post a picture in a day or two where the battery ends up and the cowl on. If I did another I might just make the battery tray longer.

Status: offline 		Here's a couple of pics showing the motor mockup and a recycled battery tray installed in my Stinger II build:




The distance from the firewall to the prop hub is exactly 4 1/2" using 1 3/4" of nylon spacers.
After finalizing the motor and cutting the excess bolt material, all that's left to do is the ESC, cowl, receiver, landing gear and CG/EPAs.
The plane is going to be way overpowered. It's gonna be a hoot!

Status: offline 		Plane all together now. CG is coming out nose heavy with a 4000 4s pushed all the way back to the receiver. This is without the spinner. Just might have to relocate the receiver or add some tail weight.

I'm doing this conversion also. I went with the E flite 46 for tne motor and E flite ESC 60 amp. I also cut out the tank floor and made a floor for the battery pack. Not shure which size prop to use yet. Mine balanced a little tail heavy but I had to order a new spinner, the one in the kit wobbles. So I will do a finale balance when it comes. Jim

Status: offline 		Got my cg sorted out. I'm using an e-flite 4s 4000 30c lipo and started out with an APC 13x10e prop. First run up pulled 63a @ 993 watts. That would be nice, but I'm going to stay within the motor's specs for WOT. I dropped down to a 13x4 and that was way too much of a pitch reduction as it only pulled 27 amps and 423 watts. I settled for the 13x10 and reduced the throttle travel to 65% and that pulled 53 amps and 831 watts. Perfect. I will get a 13x7 or 13x8 and return the throttle to 100% next time out. The maiden went very well. A few clicks of up trim was all that was needed. The plane ROG easily with no rudder needed. I set the throws per the manual and they're good for the first flight. Rolls are gentle, somewhat faster on high rates but not a blur by any means. Loops on high rates are nice and tight with no tendency to snap out. Speaking of snap, the high rate snap is excellent. Make sure the battery is well secured as mine shifted and I'm sure it was the snaps that did that. The plane will not stall. I got some altitude, shut the throttle down and fed in high rate elevator as it slowed down. All it did was drop the nose slightly and gently waffled the wings. It did not try to roll over. The plane lands like a pattern plane. Rock solid. It will come in a little hot, but slows down nicely using a longer glide path. I knocked out the blind nuts in the canopy and cut down the 2/56 throttle rod to make a simple latch, as opposed to using the screws every time. Small fuel tubing is what holds the rod in place. Sounds like a very good flyer, I used to have the 120 size and it flew very well, so when this one came out I new that it would be a good flyer. Also I was going to try a 13 X 8 prop, and from your info I think it will work. Good job, thanks for the update. Jim

Status: offline 		Here an update to my previous post. I tried an APC 13x8E prop and the results were disappointing. I reset the throttle travel to 100% and the WOT output was only 41 amps and 653 watts. I went back to the 13x10 prop and reduced the throttle travel back to 65%. I think I'll try a 5S lipo.

will be useing a G-force 46 600 kv motor
G-force 4000mah 4s 40c lipo

Status: offline 		@bhcnomo: I was dissapointed with the plane's performance using 4S. I switched motors from the power 46 to the rimfire 46 and ran that on 5S with a 13x8 Xoar e-prop. It's a whole different plane now. The motor you're using is rated for 6S so you should consider going that route IMO. You're just not going to get the RPMs with the 4S. Have you fitted the cowl yet? When I tred the GP motor mount I couldn't get the motor back far enough and ended up going with nylon spacers instead.

my skills are not up to 3d yet 
was going to get a bigger battery
did not fit the cowl yet  did put it on to see if it would fit
its ok if the two halfs on the motor mount are all the way toghter
got to put the servos in and connect the control lines
to see how the cg is and move the motor in or out to fix
the power46 was in my GP shoesting useing two 3s connected in parallel
but two 3s will not fit in the stinger

Status: offline 		Did you have them I series or parallel ? I can run the 800kv on 4s using a 3 blade 12/8 flies very well. I had the 670kv motor and would fly but not much power. HobbyKing has a couple heli motors that look promising but have not had a chance to try them. Might be able to fly with a smaller prop on a 3s lipo.

Status: offline 		The plane flew okay on 4S, but somewhat ho-hum as sport planes go. Consider this: At 4S using 14.8v nominal voltage, your 600kv motor will only be turning 8800 RPM, theoretically. Using 6S at 22.2 nominal voltage, that same motor will be running at 13320 RPM. Again, theoretically. Big difference. Now, fully charged the RPM jumps to 10080 for 4S or 15120 for 6S. On 6S the capacity/size of the lipo can be reduced. I'm currently building Stinger number 2 (rip Stinger number 1) and I have a 6S 3600 Turnigy that has plenty of room for CG adjustment.

Status: offline 		I flew a GP Stik with that set up and it flew fine. Depending on the mah you are going with the 5s might be the biggest battery that will fit the plane. A 6s 5000mah will not fit in the plane.
