I have read this thread, use 6 vdc Rx pack and 4.8 vdc ignition pack and do not use opto kill switches, but use a small servo operated switch that is very compact, cheap and totally isolated since it has no connection to either power source, other than the servo is driven by the Rx's 6 vdc. My switches are made using a reed relay, actuated by a very small (1/8" dia x 1/4") rare earth magnet glued in a servo wheel. The reed relay is epoxied in a short piece of soda straw after leads are attached. The whole affair is then glued to the top of a small servo. These tiny reed relays will typically switch 2 A or more and are very small ( 1 or 2 mm in dia) and are good for 100,000's of cycles, are very vibration tolerant AND they are cheap. Picture of a completed assembly below My radio allows setting a failsafe, so I set it to open the reed relay and disconnect ignition power if RX loses signal.

I was considering using opto switches, but after reading this thread, I don't think so. My deal is very inexpensive and bulletproof. It also has the advantage of drawing no power when the RX is powered down, so it could be used as a shutdown switch for the ignition, but I have chosen to use a separate physical switch for that function.
