Wasn't sure where to post this blog... I have Dymond D5000 and D7000 servos and the servo mounting grommets are disintegrating after 10-20 minutes of flight time . I am using the Dymond servos in planes powered by Dle 20 and Dle 30 engines. Has anyone heard of this problem with the Dymond servos and if so what was the fix? I contacted Dymond today and was told they never heard of this before.

It's probably a weak servo mount structure in your fuselage that is flexing. Describe it and post some images. Are the aileron servos OK? Dan.

Dan,   the servo mounting structure is not weak. I am having this problem with the Dymond servo mounts in the fuselage of other planes with DLE gas engines. Vibration is greater in the fuselage and likewise those grommets are disintegrating. I have used a Futaba servo next to the Dymond servo and only the Dymond grommet is coming apart. The Dymond grommet appears to be a softer material and subject to viberation damage. 10 minutes of flight and the fuselage grommets are trashed.

Does anyone know of another grommet that will fit the Dymond D5000 servos?       http://www.rc-dymond.com/

Is there an eyelet in the grommet? Dan.

Yes the same eyelet as the Futaba servos. However, the Futaba grommets will not work as they are made different. The Dymond grommet is O-ring style.

What is the width of the servo and the spacing between the mounting holes? The spacing may be one centimeter which is .39 inches. That is pretty common. If you can find a Futaba servo with the same width, then the four separate grommets should work. If your servo width is the same as mine, I can send you a few to try. Dan.

Dan,    I compared a Futaba S3003 servo hole pattern with the Dymond D5000. The holes are the same size and spacing is the same. The only difference is the Futaba servo is just a hole in the case and the Dymond D5000 is a hole with a cut out to allow the grommet to slide in. Do you have any round Futaba grommets?

Futaba makes a lot a servos that are two centimeters wide with a one centimeter hole spacing. If your servo has the same dimensions, then the corner grommets should fit. They all require that slot. Go to http://towerhobbies.com/ and type in "futaba grommets". They may all fit your servo. I can send you four of the FSH 40s so you can try them. Email me your address. Dan.

I am thinking about using RC-dymond servos on my ESM P-39. Hacker 60L electric, it has 2 ea. 5000ma Turnigy Nanos in seris, 22" prop. Obviously, very little vibration here, but, can you compair them to Hi tec servos of the same basic specs? Any problems pluging into JR or Spectrum Rxs? What would you think the minimum torque should be for rud, el and al? P-39 will be about 22 lbs all up. Thanks in advance. PS, anyone else with experience with both servos welcome to comment. After seeing this I went and checked my Giant "Big-stick". I have Dymond 5000's and a CRRC 40 cc gas engine. I hit flight 40 last week and no problems with the servos, just went and checked to make sure! Not sure what is going on but so far It hasn't hit me!
I will keep tabs however to make sure, thanks.
