full composite Wind S pro -Sebart
Hello
Recently came out completely composite Wind S pro version without a lot of information on model, not in building or Flying
Of course I like the balsa wing model , it does a great job.
So I wanted another one In case, for Flying wrong / bad luck / Radio Interference in 2.4 / All / Other ... and it breaks
composite version is different not only in the materials, weight and strength but also in geometry, I think stability and some aerodynamics ?
This topic will introduce the mine construction process and the possibility comparing the two aircraft balsa wing with composite
The majority information will be pictures because I write very slowly in English
Therefore, I apologize

RE: full composite Wind S pro -Sebart
mor pic
You can feel the changes and some can actually see
Wing pulled back more
Larger Aileron surface
It includes flow fences and accurate installation place
Decreased thickness of the wing section
Difficult to measure the difference of the wing root area,it is thickns end not aligned with the rest of the wing, it is noticeable
the horizontal stabilizer Increased thickness
Larger tail Anahdrl
Aileron and horizontal stabilizer hinges are Skin hinges but the lower slot / gap is closed as F3J, F5J Style
Coverage of Servos so that only the pusharod sticking out (F3J, F5J style)
THE LUXORY BAG UNFORTUNATELY ARE NO MORE INCLUDED
IN THE PRICE
THEY ARE OPTIONALS... (SEBA words)

Hi Chester,
The full composite version seems to be very good on the pictures You posted. If You would judge build quality and paint quality on the full composite version how would You rate it on say a 1 - 10 scale?
Do You think the new fulll composite version is heavier or lighter then the old balsa wing/stab version?
Was the full compositeworth the extra cost in Your opinion compared to old version?
What equipement are You planning to use (motor, ESC, LiPo, servos, receiver etc)?
/Bo

RE: full composite Wind S pro -Sebart
Hi bem.
Reasonable leve of paint job it's not different from the paint job of the fuselage basic balsa wings kit
Composite build work reminds me of the composite ARF INTEGRAL also color job so I will give it a 8... for 1800 Euro 2500$
(10-0 Judging scale ? )
Very similar weight to basic balsa wings kit, the wings are heavyer in 20 grams each.
in the fuselage, work has been done on reducing the weight by reducing unnecessary reinforcements.
I think that the weight of 2300 to all structural parts of this model is very good weight for start, by all drive system.
The model is worth the price for me because it's a new model, different geometric and airodynamics' perhaps even improving ?
It is veri hot in the summer of Israel if it will stay in the car all the covers will "cook" and become wrinkles
So in my case it's really important to have a composite & paint job

Hi Chester
Looks very good. Take it easy with the Castle Creations Phoenix ICE HV 85You have there in the pictureunless You have sent it in to Castle Creations for upgrade acording to the recall and got it back.
Looking forward to read some flight reports later from You of the full composite version.

RE: full composite Wind S pro -Sebart
The Rudder original hinges wer not enough durable ,needed to replacing the hinges after about 450 flight, the experience from the first model, so I chose to use a little more durable hinges but more heavy
Aileron horns arms are replaced by carbon fiber because of 3 mm holes where drilled, it does not fit 2mm bearing Link screw

Chester, if you have any other feedback of what you learned from your original Wind-S I would be happy to hear; I am thinking about buying one. Any other improvements you suggest outside the replacement of hinges?

Do not use the original Kit hinges
Use the standard hinges of Robart
Use for the rudder HD hinges like in the picture
If you use the originals hinges you not going to risk anything,
But it developed after hundreds of flights for all control surfaces mechanical vibrations
Something we all try to prevent

RE: full composite Wind S pro -Sebart
The outer wing tube (socket) in the fuselage is very weak and badly glued together with the fuselage
Try to stick it to the fuselage and strengthen it in thickening the layers of the tube
maybe fiber glass layers
Maybe the inner surface of the nose ring is not parallel to the outer surface of the nose ring
Which will require you to make a spacer part for the right nose angle of the motor
not in all of the kits
the outer surface of the nose ring is o.k for reference the down & side thrust

Thanks Chester! You obviously went thru some changes with your motor setup, very similar to mine (evo + advance). FYI I now use the YGE90 for ESC, it is only 85grams and runs very smoothly in combination with the Advance.

RE: full composite Wind S pro -Sebart
on the old model ,the balsa wing - the wing tube in the fuselage after 600 flights was quite weak , had to reinforce it
so I added glass fiber as the tube is inside the fuselage
for prevent the tube to stick, I have added a transparent monokote to the wing tube
The Same process was done for the composite to prevent problems later

No. I use the original nose ring without reinforcement and without back support, it is very strong, I even opened cooling holes and it is still rigid

I would be very careful securing your motor in the manner you have. The nose ring in the Wind S is only light ply. A friend mounted his AXI the same way as you. It lasted a couple of months before the motor broke loose. He hadn't removed as much material as you have either....
Aircraft ply (5 or 6 ply) with carbon either side is a good solution for a firewall. Only needs to be 1/8" thick.
Regards,
Jason.
