Taking out that sharp angle in the back.
One of the few design lines I don’t like on this plane.

That does look at lot cleaner than the angle for sure AmishWarlord.

The upload server for pics must be down from Sandy, can't do any uploading. Add some more pics later when things get back going.

Lost some time with work and all. But getting back at it!! First thing addressed was to get the boo boo behind me. Start fresh...right from making new templates.
Forward and onward!!

Mounted the mill, put it up on her feet. Time to really get going on installing, and fitting. Going to be an adventure rigging throttle, but really found a feature that will be done with no compromise. Standoffs for plug wires, got the standoffs, but need to find a 5mil machine thread to lag combo.

Got , no, TOOK some time today to work on the throttle. Transition point will be at the exposed side of the firewall. Was hoping to get a pull/lift type linkage, but reality gave me a push/lift. Keeping the servo well back, so will have to push for a distance, hence 4/40 on the push side and 2/56 on the pull.. This is early into it, but if it changes I will update.

Going to try one of these filters. It's a dual aluminum mesh type, not going to be oiling it. I think it might be a good idea to keep some of the grass clippings out, as finding a prebuilt LG for what I'd like to see isn't fruitful.

Just curious why you don't oil it?
Looks like a K&N type, if so that's how they trap the finer particles.

Got the throttle all set up now. Went with 2 bell cranks and it worked out perfectly. Uses about 90% of the resolution of the servo, so should be a nice smooth throttle I assume. Parts for the pull pull ailerons should be here tomorrow, also the digital servos and programmer for the elevators. Needed to reverse one of the servos for the pull pull elevators so this way seemed the easiest route. So now I can get back to building the servo mountings for the wings and get the sheeting finished up on them.

Got on the lathe this afternoon and built some plug wire stand offs, done. Did some hardwood block standoffs in the front bay. Got the front hatch fitted for the wires and starting to figure out the gun mount placement. Think I need to build in a gun sight between the guns. to fill in some space.

Started to go hard on finishing things up and try to get past the building stage and move up. Be nice to wrap up the balsa dust stage and permanently install things. So with glue crusted fingers, time to get these wings done!

Not finished yet. Didn't get to spend as much time as I hoped. Still moving forward, but this stage has been a little slow going. Lots of laminating to do in this phase.

Got the bays done for the pull-pull ailerons, finishing some rib backing for the sheeting, laminating sheeting pieces and working on the hatches. Going topside access for the servo bays.

Got the wing servo bays almost completed, just have to cut the top hatches for the servo arm. Going pull-pull on the ailerons has yielded more work, but I think it's going to look sooo good. Just laying down the last of sheeting on the inward end of the wings.

Is your wing going to be 2 piece? Mine is built as per plans and is a real pain to transport. I may try to build a new one and do it as a 2 piece. I made a really good template of the ribs out of 1/4 inch ply incase I needed it for repairs or to build a new one. Yours is looking really good by the way. Keep it up.

I'm stalled right now pondering this exact question over. At this point I can go 1 piece and have rock solid connection before I sheet the other half, but I'll have to deal with the whole wing for the rest of construction and sanding, covering. I did put some stock into the TE between the ribs for the full course of the wing for the robart hinges and a anti rotation pin for the TE. Did build for dual dowels on the LE So not sure what to do! It seems ok to go two piece, but I also would like to have the two halves glassed together.

I have means for transport if one piece, but convenience of two piece and can fit in the truck for a quick would be nice also.

So I'm still weighing in on this right now. While I'm pondering, I'm looking at the wing tips right now. Should it have something more than what's on the prints?

tried to upload a pic, but just continualy get a server 500 error??

I know what you mean about those tips. Mine is just like yours and has held up well. It's stronger than it looks. I have had to build a new fuse because of a crash and the wing tips survived even with some damage to the wings. My .40 size has some triangle supports that run from the last rib to the edge of the tips on both the top and bottom. They are even with the spars. You can easily add these to yours if you are worried. If I was building that wing again I would for shure do it 2 piece. But you would almost have to have that in mind from the beginning as it would need some kind of wing tube or something to spread the load at the joint. Sig uses a ally piece with a ally reciever on their 1/3 spacewalker, it works really well and could be adapted to this wing. The dihedral in this wing make it a little harder to put a tube in it but its thick enough to do it. I think a 3/4 tube about 30 inch long placed next to the spars would be enough and may could even be shorter if needed. You would need to add a ply rib for support at the end of the tube IMHO. AMR sells a version of this plane with a 2 piece wing and tube. You might find a build thread to look at to try to decide if want to go that route. This wing is really strong as per plans but is a total pain because of it size. Mine doesn't get flown as much as I would like because of that. Looking forward to seeing what you decide. Phil

During construction I did fill the pockets between the spars with laminated ply and expoy for the next couple bays on each wing half beyond the stick So I feel that this spar, could on it's own would be able to hold it, and with the addition of anti rotational pins on the TE, think it's doable?

Flytne, I looked at some of your pictures of the wings. Is the jointer long enough to support the center section? It looks like it may be if it goes a least 2 bays. I guess you made a pocket for it. The wing spars with the ply shearwebs for shure strong enough if the joiner is up to the task. I would add wing bolts on both ends and do away with the dowel. 4 wing bolts, 2 front and 2 rear. The anti rotation pins will help but a rear spare joiner would be better. It has been a while sence I built my wing so I don't remember how long or thick that joiner is. But it seems it was a pretty good size. I didn't glass mine and just the expoxy is holding it together and it's held up really well. Just food for thought. Let me know what you decide to do. Maybe some one else can add their thoughts about it. Phil
