I wanted some advice on my brother and I getting 2 trucks

Is there a real difference in jumping and cornering with the battery in the center or on the side?

A few things we want in the trucks : 1) 4 X 4, 2) Brushless, 3) water proof, 4) good upgrade support (metal parts)

We don't want to spend over $300 to $400 each to get started and would like something that is RTR

I have been reading about so many brands I don't know where to get started

I spent some time reading about the Traxxas Slash and the E-Revo

We are trying to decide between 1/10 and 1/16

Or take a look at the Savage XS, it is a 4wd mini that is larger than the Traxxas mini's.

Status: offline 		Traxxas would be your best bet... but NO RC car is truly waterproof. Water can still get into the bearings and transmission, the motor is also not "waterproof" as Traxxas claims. 1/10 scale stuff can handle grass a bit better than the 1/16th scale stuff.

Status: offline 		With a 4x4 the location of the battery is usually offset to one side and then the motor and ESC on the other so its not like its totally off-balance.

After proanti1 mentioned 1/10 scale can handle grass a bit better I think we definitely want to go the 1/10 scale (thanks)

For the extra cash is the slash worth getting in the "Ultimate" for the upgraded parts? or the Platinum getting my own radio?

I am into Planes and buy Good Cheap batteries from HobbyKing, anyone using them?

The 25 C spec is easy to find cheap at HobbyKing

(they even have 35 c for very cheap and they last a long time, I have some that are over 2 years old)

Status: offline 		Lots of people on here love hobbyking so yes keep on getting whatever 3s 20c+ lipo you can get from them.

Like scott said, the 4x4 stampede is another option but don't get it for the reasons he stated. Get the slash 4x4 and you get the longer wheelbase and less cramped chassis, and if you want more ground clearance throw on bigger tires and an MT body and you're set. I personally see no reason for a stampede 4x4.

I do recommend either the ultimate or platinum because it comes with the aluminum parts that are where you want aluminum, and where common breaks are for the plastic. You would most likely replace those with aluminum at some point and it will cost you more down the road.

Also no, I do not notice my slash 4x4 to be prone to rolling in any certain way because of weight, the motor and batteries usually offset themselves.

We are going to order 2 of the Slash 4X4 ultimate today, We found them for $450 each (delivered)

Thanks for your input on the batteries and larger tires

Longer wheelbase and larger tires sounds like a winner to me
