Buy white, black and a dark brown. A couple of each should do. Don't use the black or white purely as they always need softening, I use dark brown with a touch of black, the white with some black to make a light grey. Do the light wash first perhaps only over the brown on your scheme then the darker wash over the sand and green, you'll have to experiment to see which shade of wash looks better. Start with a watery wash and try the technique on the underside first. Make sure you use the pads don't substitute with normal wet & dry as this is too harsh as it doesn't spread the applied pressure very well.

Status: offline 		Alex, not sure if its any help, managed to do this but not sure how to get the youtube pic in there (IT not my thing) I'm sure there are plenty of folk on here who will know. My iPad could not do it (same as it won't upload images) so had to use the MacBook.

If so then click on the YouTube button and between the Youtube tag and Youtube closing tag, paste the long version of the URL for the video. Do not use the short version as this doesn't work.

For example the long URL is - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81fnWrUufqE
and the short verison is http://youtu.be/81fnWrUufqE

Status: offline 		Wash is all complete, it definitely needs some decals. I'm going to try and use Alsa Ghost chrome on the exhaust nozzel as I tried flight metal but I couldn't get it looking very good. Going to have a few weeks off as I'm a bit A4'd out, if you know what I mean... I need to concentrate on a friends F16 anyway.

All set to test fly last Sunday and it blew like..... never mind public holiday here next Monday so planning on test flight then! good old NZ summer

Here in New Zealand we have a requirement to register/certify our aircraft if they weigh between 15 & 25kg and special CAA approval for over 25kg. Part of the certification requires listing certain specs including wing area which is a figure I could'nt find published anywhere so for those interested the SM A4 comes out at around 1250 sq in (79.80 sq dm) and with my aircraft tipping the scales at 16.90kg gives a wing loading of approx 69 ozs/sq.ft (212 g/sq.dm).....a figure probably not wanting to think about to much

Anyone else that's built an A4 care to share your finished weight? the 16.90kg for mine is dry and I would be keen to know what the total fuel capacity is with the 2x side conformal tanks and the smaller rectangle shaped tank under the intake ducting, another figure I could'nt find listed in any specs...anyone know the tank capacities?

Some may notice the Kangaroo roundals have now been repainted with Kiwi's making it now officially an RNZAF aircraft!

Status: offline 		Hi Rene, from memory the total fuel capacity is 4 litres. My models final installed and balanced weight is 16.10kg this includes a full CAT. This is slightly lighter than yours although mine was weighed before painting just in primer. It flew very nicely at this weight. I'm hoping to fly mine soon and finish the set up. Do you have a gyro installed? It really needs an aileron gyro to help it present well or it will be wobbling all over the place. Good luck.

Thanks for the info, my A4 has had around a dozen or so flights with the previous owner and apart from slightly different turbines of similar size there has been no great changes to equipment or structure

I purchased a Powerbox Igyro for the A4 at xmas but intend flying it in another model prior to fitting to the A4 just to check the system out and get the feel of operation.

Status: offline 		What a day! Sunshine, 5kts of wind down the runway. Five back to back flights which I thoroughly enjoyed. The model is good fun to fly but more set up critical than most, just about there with the last flight. I'll post my findings and some more photos to round the thread off tomorrow.
