Hi All i have recently received my second Fej Hawk 1.4.5 scale,i was so pleased with the first one which now has 30 flights that i had to have the new light weight version,having unpacked the new one i am astounded at how much weight has been saved with the new honey comb constuction,all formers in the new model are glass reninforced honey comb with carbon fiber in all high stress areas.I have not had time to weigh every thing but to give you an idea there is a saving of 8oz (227grams) in each wing! weighing the cock pits there is a weight saving of 9oz,When i get back from JetPower i will weigh the whole model and get a total weight saving which i will post.
i am not a FEJ rep and have no conection with them, just a fan of value for money.regards Keith

Hello Keith,

I purchased the red Hawk 1/4.5 at Jetpower. I am, so far, impressed with the quality and lightness of the kit. Before that I had the old FeiBau 1/5.5 scale Hawk. I appretiate your comments on this new jet as I gather you have experience with the earlier kit. Any problems to watch out for and how does it fly.

Hi you should have said hello at Jet-power we could have had a good chat,anyway yes i have both the old Hawk and the new light hawk,first of all when i weighed my first Hawk i used some scales that were not very good and the truth is it weights more than i first thought,with the smoke pump on board and big batterys it is very close to the 20kg limit.I have today finnished the new Hawk and ready to fly with pilots and dry tanks the weight came out at 41lbs that,s just over 18kgs it was weighed with a new set of scales which i have checked and calabrated.The maiden will be tomorrow (sunday) i will let you know on here how it goe,s with a video i hope.The new one has a Jet Central Rhino 160.Make sure that you install every thing up the front of the model or you will be adding weight to the nose,engine MUST be as far forward as possable.Will be back soon with video and photos regards Keith

Maiden was completed today three flights done and a video made which i will post soon,there were no problems what so ever,two clicks of down and a couple of clicks of right aileron and that was it,9 minutes of pure fun on each flight with half a tank of fuel left,fantastic Hawk thankyou FEJ regards Keith

thanks for doing the video steve,must say i was grinning all the way home,when you get weather like we had on sunday(it was perfect,bright sunshine light wind straight down the runway) is not the norm for this time of year in the UK,and three perfect flights just doe,s not get better than that regards Keith video is here http://www.youtube.com sorry do not have link but put in search engine HAWK 2nd flight west raynam and it will come up
